Rocker Switch Wiring [for Wind Restrictor LED shield]

Let me say first that I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to cars, but I'm fairly quick to learn - and experimentation doesn't scare me...

So, I want to wire in a rocker switch for my lighted windscreen. The first one I put in only had two wires to control it and the new one I want to use has three

- Power (+)
- Load
- Ground (-)

Can I get a good definition of the Load?

I can get access to all three wires from the rear tail light, but I'd prefer to "understand" what the heck I'm doing...

Any help would be appreciated (by many of us as we start wiring all these lighted shields...)

If you go to his web sight there are specific instructions and pics that show the install. If that doesn't help contact me and I will go over them with you.

I have it wired the same way as you indicate, however, I want to install a three connector rocker switch to be able to turn it off and on from within the car. Just don't quite understand this new switch (load) and was hoping for some technical guidance....definition.

Here are the instructions Ann has been kind enough to share with us! There are many ways to connect the wires this is just the one that she found that will allow the Illumination to turn on when you turn on your driving lamps. As far as attaching the rocker switch, I figure you can add one in-between the wiring from the tail lamp and find a place to mount it like inside the middle waterfall compartment. Here are some photos that another customer sent me of her switch. I will be looking in to how exactly you wire a rocker switch and an illuminated rocker switch and as soon as I find out more details I will post them in the forum and on my web site. Thanks again to all the helpful customers and Solstice owners.

How to hook up the LED switches: The black wire goes to ground, the red wire directly next to the black wire (this is the red wire in the middle) goes to your constant power source, and the other red wire on the end goes to the circuit you are powering. does this help?

Is there a way to have it wired so that it is always on when the car is on without having to turn on headlights/foglights/brakelights, but with a switch to turn it off even when the car is on? I'm sure this is possible, just wondering what the easiest approach is.

I still need to know "What is the Load" connector? Ground and power I understand...

Load goes to the light in this case or to anything that you are supplying power to.

I guess load is the wire you run to the + wire that is coming off the light strip... and POS wire goes to a constant power wire?

What the labels tell me, is that it is a single-pole, double-throw switch; the 'load' is also known as common, and the other two contacts are closed (to common) at alternate positions of the switch. BTW, you can put + on either side, or you can connect the + to the 'load' contact and use either of the other contacts for your output. Unless the switch is lighted, then follow the labels for + and gnd, and use load as the output.

We finished the instructions for installing a rocker switch for the Windrestrictor lighted windscreen and I want to post the instructions where the forum members can get it. It's about 26.6 MB (I used lots of high def pictures). How/where can I do that? I will be sending a copy to the Windrestrictor.com site and they can probably do it, but I'd like to put it out here where it can be downloaded on demand...

I've downsized to 1.2 MB - I can email it out if anyone wants a copy. Still looking for a way to post it though..

"Load" means the "work load" the switch has to support, in terms of amperages.
once the switch is clicked on, the electricity from the batterie "power" will go to the "load" and energise that circuit.

Think of it like a 15 amp house breaker, if you over"LOAD" the circuit ( to many appliance/lights on that circuit ) the breaker will trip...load being all the lights or accessories the switch/breaker has to handle.
