Mine goes up all of the way most of time and it's stock. It does not snap up but goes smoothly up all the way. Very rarely does it not go up all the way. I think it may have to do if the car is level or not. Go figure. I think it was Pontiac's intention but they did not get it down uniformly...

From the first day I picked up my MeanGXP the trunk lid has always opened up all the way. It came that way from the factory. I have had people ask me how I got it to do that and was surprised that mine was the only one that did open all the way by itself.

So I tried this tonight, but it didn't work. The springs keep popping off both the bar and the lid. The spring end gets stretched out and it pops off both the bar and the hinge end. Am I missing somthing? I am VERY mod savvy, but something must be amiss...

I'm going to go and take a picture of how mine is attached and hopefully that will help you.

I've open my trunk more today than in the last 6 months playing. I'm easily amused.

Awesome! ahha
I'm glad that everyone is enjoying it.
I got a vision in my head of the trunk popping open like that, the hood swinging up automatically and then lambo doors coming up on their own all at the same time and thinking that it would probably look like a Transformer. haha

Oh and I can't take credit for the idea. Someone else on here came up with it, I believe. Just can't remember who.
That would be RobTheElder as discussed last year; and looked into extensively over on the SkySide back in April of 2008.
A couple of more elaborate options were the bolt on... and the drilled in versions.
I think my springs are starting to stretch out already! I've only had them on for 3 days. Ah well, you get what you pay for, and it's still better than before.
just did this mod and let me tell you it works GREAT! omg this is going to put less stress on my fingers...hahaha! i was getting tired of putting my fingers in the crack and lifting the trunk myself...thank you sooo much!!!

What a clever mod! This is great. Thanks so much to BANDITCAR for sharing this idea. Mine took two springs. It was especially useful for me because ever since I had my tulip covered in leather (Daddy likey the leather...) the trunk lid kind of binds and I have to lift up on it slightly while hitting the trunk release button. Now, just a press of the button and presto the top magically lifts to it's fully open position!
