travelling with surfboards

Without the suggestion of getting the hardtop, has anyone attempted to strap a surfboard ontop of the softtop yet? My 148cm snowboard fits snuggly into the passenger side nothing sticking out with the seat leaned back completely. However, I'm at the verge of buying a 6'2" (188cm) surfboard, that's going to be a difference of 1 foot and then some of length sticking out of the passenger.

Beside that route, has anyone attempted to strap them ontop of the softtop? Will our top be able to support the weights?

Are there any company offering something like the Boxster RTS?

If only my solstice isn't my only car, then I wouldn't be having this discussion.

I believe it is 148cm and 188cm not inches. The larger board will be 1 foot 4 inches longer - not 3 feet. Get a 2X4 and see how much 6' 2" will actually stick out.

I hang my head in shame :]

So I was looking over sky forum, and it seems someone went off and strapped his board anyway, so it seems possible after all.
