True, but the paint is also damaged. Bites the big one...let's just say that rack won't be seen anywhere near my Sol again!
Time to break out the purple paint
Melanie,,,what exactly from the rack caused the dents...is there a bolt or connection under the rubber strips that could have done that.....looks like specific pressure points so to speak....would love to see a pick of the rack on the car...and something indicating where the dents are......

I'll see what I can do-it's the joint where the top strap section connects to the rack and the lower strap section-no bolts were loose, it appears to have just flexed at that point, when the lid was closed, with contents on the rack.

so it wasnt the mounting of the rack on the deck lid ..but rather the weight of the contents on the reack pushing those small support arms into the humps....if Im reading it correctly......what is the weight limitation on the rack...50-75 Pounds I wonder???

thanks
I believe one place said 70, another said 50, the posters were two boxes, that according to UPS were 32 & 34 lbs each. and the posters were transported flat, so the weight was evenly distributed across the whole rack.
I'm gonna split this discussion out of here, since it really doesn't have anything to do with the subject

just check classic carriers website "Through optimal pressure distribution on the trunklid, the carrying capacity permitted is 35Kg max., slightly over U.S. 75 lbs." This is based on their generic stainless steel rack....however..if you look at the Solstice rack install instructions on the site you see this one:
"Through optimal pressure distribution on the trunk lid the carrying capacity is 50 lbs maximum."

I suspect the rack will quickly loose sales now that it is evident it can cause damage to our beloved Solstice.
