Oh I agree...didnt mean to say either was right or wrong....these type of racks are always difficult to not exceed so to speak....and you are right.....it should be able to sustain a few over....and not have a max do not exceed limit....but rather an recommended limit.....as we all cant weigh every time we use it.....

but I do like the recommendation someone made of send pics to the company....did you get if from Kappasphere or classic carriers.....beleive the latter is Kappaspheres supplier

I weigh my stuff every time I head out. I was up to 95 lbs on the coast to coast before I actually loaded up so I dumped and ran with a 65-70lb canvas load.

Nashville's hard shell suitcase was 40lbs.

Makes the "official" GM rack look better and better.

at least no damage outside of mounting holes from the rack itself, only from what is placed on it.

Think about the load you had on it on the way South.
Your low flat load was just like a wing. You could have been generating a couple of hundred pounds of down force at speed.
Sorry about Kenny's dents, glad you made it home safe and sound.

Now I'm thinking that I should've took Joe up on his DashHawk swap offer...

And it's PEA shooters - not PEE shooters...

Sorry Solli4me, the deal is off now. I have someone lined up to buy it (Dash Hawk).

Here is to hoping that they take really good care of that rack, remember to gently wash it and and then rub it down with lots of tender loving care

Have the same rack and not had a problem yet. Went and looked at mine after seeing your pictures, pushed down real hard at the pivot points and did not touch the deck lid. Maybe you have a faulty rack I would get intouch with the people you bought it from and on them. Hope you get it squared away.
