I held up from posting this. I revealed the mod during the Southeaster Meet in Lexington KY.

I bought 2 Blue neon ropes from Ebay in the hope of making my own halo headlights but they weren't bright enough. So I pondered and considered a pontiac emblem in the insulation under the hood. I already had the insulation off and painted the letters Solstice with silver to match the silver on the engine and fuse covers. I used black caliper paint first, 2 coats, to soak into the mat so the silver wouldn't. Then I brushed on the silver.

My neighbor Kelly recommended I spell out the letters of the solstice with the rope. So Saturday night I began with a bend and fit to see if one 5 foot strand is long enough. It was. So I began piercing with an awl at the ends of each letter and where the rope would have to pierce through twice in a letter. I started in the back and every 1/2 inch or so I tied/stitched it in with fishing line. 3 letters and 3 hours later I went to bed. Sunday I got up and finished and then began a layout of the Pontiac emblem below the letters, creating the largest emblem I could with the second rope. I wired them together and to the parking lights.

The results.

Daytime pics. You can't tell the neon is on, that is why I didn't use them as the halo lights for the headlights. The trip to the SEM was 600 miles and they worked for the meet. They don't glow as bright at first but when they cool down they are ok.

Where did you get the lights and what was the cost - if you don't mind sharing.

I saw this mod in person and I can tell you it looks awesome! I would do it if I had the patience and the clean engine compartment that Deepbluegxp has. I keep my closet door and my Solstice hood closed - behind each is a real mess!

This looked awesome in person and I really would like to add neon, or LED lights to my mod list.

There is two web links to ebay under the last photo of the first post. I spent about $20 after shipping.
