GM Stage Kit info from the Senior Engineering Manager of GM
Latest issue of GM High-tech Performance magazine has a short interview with Tony Roma, Senior Engineering Group Manager, Integration and Advanced Concepts, in the High Performance Vehicle Operations (HPVO), one arm of the GM Performance Division.
Mag: What other performance projects are in the works for you?
Tony: Some of the things we've already introduced are the supercharged Cobalt stage kits. We're working on induction and exhaust systems for various vehicles. All the things you need to bolt a crate engine into a car and also a stage kit for the LNF Cobalt and HHR.
I know he didn't say Solstice/Sky, but at least they are working with the engine.

For us been part of the so called "Performance division/Pontiac" it looks like Chevrolet gets the actual performance instead.
I know they will sell more Cobalts etc.. but if you coin Pontiac your performance division then you need to show it, so far nothing.

As I mentioned previously in another thread (and asked Momssol and Brentil to confirm with their contacts)... this Stage II kit is NOT COMING OUT this year.
My sources (for this) are located in the testing and development areas... this stage kit did NOT finish it's testing, funding was cut. Without testing, GM can not release it as a warrantied kit.
I have not heard anything yet on when testing will be scheduled... but it's not looking good at this point for this kit to ever see the light of day. I'm still working on tracking down part numbers... but what I'd love to see is one of the ECU's they used.. because this kit required a flash.
Or maybe they stopped testing when trannies and diffs started failing more frequently.
What??? The differential issues were mostly on the 06's and 07's NAs NOT GXPs. And the Stage II is ONLY for the GXP. Don't know of any *trannies* failing.
The testing and R & D for the Stage II for the GXP had been going on for some time - especially on the T2 and the Set-up race cars.
The reasons for stopping now has nothing to do with mechanical issues - purely monetary and the fact that the MAIN Bosch tuner has left.

IMHO, if you have inside, confidential information it is probably in the best interest of the parties giving it to you that you keep it to yourself. Just my 2 cents.
Back on topic, I think we are going to find that the funding for many performance oriented items have been reallocated to more fuel efficient alternatives on other vehicles.

Maybe Pontiac's tuner will go to HP Tuners

From what I've read elsewhere, he had to sign quite a few NDA's... As in he won't have anything to do with our ECM's again unless GM/Bosch rehires him.

I understand what you are saying... but what I posted is not confidential or "insider" information. Trust me.. I have insider information that I can't disclose on this and many other vehicles as well! I spent a long time in the auto industry in and around testing, mule vehicles, the various testing sites (Canada, Arizona, Colorado, etc.), and all of the tech centers. I do appreciate what you are saying, and also understand the conveying that sort of information is detrimental to those employees / suppliers, myself, and potentially even this forum. I try to be extremely careful when posting information and confirm that knowledge of it is available outside of the OEM's before I'm the one to spill the beans.

Without a doubt... plus these types of items have a small market, and therefore the return on the investment is simply not there.
