Because the new ECM's will tell the dealer you have been tweaking them. $200 no warrante claims $1000 still under warantee if a problem develops. Your call
Or $150-$350 for an ECM to swap with. Keep the stock ECM in a special place ready to go for dealer visits.
I guess you have to decide now where you'll stop with engine mods. Quick and clean GMPP stage II for 300 horsepower or incremental gains with compressor wheel, charge pipes, etc...
The ironic thing is that with out the stage II sensor upgrades you might be stuck at airflow levels associated with 310 horsepower at 22.5 PSI anyway.
Sorry, I'm just rambling out loud.

Shabby,
I know they have to be tune together, I was just hoping that GM Roadster and PCMforless would also get with BTF and offer it with their tunes.
Now the big question would be, to take the GMPP tune and see if it can be modify to take care of the larger wheel.
The other way would be to take the new sensors and incorporate them in the Westers, GM roadster, and PCMforless.

Who wants to lay down bets on how the GMPP tune compares from a HP standpoint to the other tuners? I bet you the $1000 gets you 10-20 HP less...if you don't think the GM warranteed tune won't be less aggressive I'd like to hear why.

It would be so badasss, I'd have to go old school & write the entire tune listening to Megadeth:The Punishment Due. (extra mean tune)
Watch gm lock the ecm for you

For 5 times the price you will get half the performance i'll bet.
Well, well, well ..... seems like patience may indeed be a virtue!
How does SEPTEMBER sound to everyone??? Hmmmmm??? Yes, thats right, Stage II Planned release is for next month thru GM Accessories via Dealerships. No specific date has been set as yet ... BUT it IS coming for the GXP and Redline!
You beat me to it!!
I picked up a lot of information yesterday (lots of projects being cancelled / delayed... nothing affecting our cars), and heard this was planned for September. Problem was I couldn't confirm it with anyone at GM yesterday... did get something this morning, came on here and saw the thread blew up yesterday.
As for what's done in the kit.. Brentil mentioned it.. but from some of the folks on the Setup show:
"As you can kind of see after the kit is mentioned, we had to put in a new MAP sensor and maybe a TPS or something (can't remember, but there was another sensor/switch), then there was a reflash by one of the GM guys. Don't know power numbers, but the cars would generate substantial wheelspin out of 3rd gear corners if you weren't smooth. Rolling restarts in first gear required some pedaling too."
I'll gladly eat crow come September... and I'm going to kick the crap out of my "sources" this weekend when I'm back in Detroit too!
I'm not liking the possibility of the ECU being locked and some of the "features" which have been added which can detect the reflash... wondering if that's now built into the new flash.
Obviously our best guess for horsepower is going to be 290 (based on the SD-290 concept with the kit).. but I've heard a 310 number as well in passing.
Oh.. and maybe I'm out of the loop here.. but who does a $200 flash for the GXP?? Wester's is $495 or over $600 for the "race tune" (not sure what SD tune is).

They're new this week but PCMs for less $200, and Gmroadster $300.

GM announced the power ratings at a previous show and then confirmed it again at the Mecca tour.
GM Stage II Kit
Under $1000
2 sensors and a voucher to have the tune done by the dealer
Fully covered by your vehicles GM warranty
290~295 HP
310 lbs-ft of Torque
Items I haven't gotten clarification on but we've heard rumored.
7000 RPM
23 PSI max boost level
We all know the tunes offered by other vendors will provide more power and costs less, it's always how the after market has worked. It's up to the buyer to decide what is most important to them in the way of features.
