What lilG is refering to is there was a CAI on the market (like many) that threw MAF codes in some vehicles. The vendor for that part "fixed" it by installing a reducer inside the pipe and that seemed to clear up problems for that particular CAI.
While some here have stated they find the "fix" difficult to accept, lilG was pointing out that the "fixed" CAI flowed better than the stock straight tube.

Hope that helps clear a few things up.

I would try to be more detailed but I am curently finishing an adult beverage that has caused a reaction past equilibium

So anymore installations with the CAI? I'm wondering how much more noise you get with the CAI. I want to hear the turbo whistle and BOV (blow off valve) more! Somebody explained it sounded like driving through a puddle, I assume that was the BOV?

Any reports on the exhaust being the same as the Magnaflow kit? What are the initial impressions on the exhaust, deeper, louder, throatier???

Hey, I installed the CAI. It was a piece of cake, took me about 30 minutes. Don't pay a stealer to install it, it's pretty easy. I like a lot of things about the kit, it is not just a crush bent pipe, filter, and a few clamps. It seems like GM has done a great job of fixing the previous issues without installing a restrictor like the others. The kit includes an extension so the MAF can be moved down by the filter for proper readings. I also really like the filter, although I'm not sure how to clean it. I appreaciate the fact that the pipe is polished aluminum and clear coated, it should stay looking really nice. I think you get what you pay for with great parts and the ease of mind that you won't get the classic CAI check engine lights.

It does a great job of letting more sound out, the rush of air from the turbo and BOV is much louder now. It might annoy those old folks that don't like noise. I prefer some noise rather then just hearing the loud fuel pump all day. You can hear a loud rush of air with the throttle and nice bov noise. The whistle from the turbine is a bit louder too.

The butt dyno says 5 horsepower with more torque at 2-3,000 RPMs. I think it's a great addition if you're a turbo fan.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR GMPP STAGE II

i was told you can remove it and use a canister type vacuum cleaner hose, dont touch the filter, just get it close enough to suck the debris out..
