GMPP Intake, odd noise? Need help.

I installed the GMPP cold air intake last night. But I am getting a wierd noise when the boost is dumped. It sounds like one of those old ooga horns on the early 1900s cars. I pulled the filter shroud off and it still does it. I checked the clearance around everything and that all looks good too. Almost sounds like the dump valve is chattering? Anyone else experience anything like this with air intakes? Not sure if this is a normal sound for these cars or not. I can run it up slightly and let off the gas so that it doesn't kick in the dump valve and the noise doesn't occur. I hear spool, then back pressure hiss. If I run it up into boost pretty good I get spool, dump hiss and OOGA. WTH?

I have heard a shutter, grind and whooooosh with my Fujita, but never nothing close to a horn sound. Maybe a GMPP owner has heard it, but I have never seen OOGA posted before. Either way, it is normal to get a noise with the CAI .... I guess people interpret the sound differently but OOGA is pretty distinct!

I know what a ooga horn sounds like but my GMMP never sounds like that.

On cold start up you get that huge sucking noise. Then driving you get the turbo spool noises with whines and whistles. The BOV releasing boost sounds more drawn out rather then the usual pop. You get some strange noises with partial boost/vacuum. You also get the "three stooges sound" when the compressor wheel surges when the BOV doesn't release boost quick enough.

Most of the strange noises come from having an undersized BOV on the compressor housing.

Hahn's BOV looks good, check out that thread:

That initial sucking sound scared the crap out of me when I first fired it up. I thought the filter had popped of somehow. The ooga sound is short, about 2 seconds long. I'll have to double check to make sure I didn't knock the line to the bypass valve off. It's just a very odd noise to come from the car.

I just had the GMPP intake installed, and I'm hearing the same noise too. It does sound like a chug sound right before the bov whistle. It sort of sounds like something is rubbing against something. Do you guys have that heatshield attached to the filter?

I just ordered the Dejon bov spring. I hope it'll help with that weird sound. Will let you guys known when I get it installed.

My Fujita sounded about the same after installing my spring, but it may make the sound "crisper."

I have the shield on, but I took it off and drove around and got the same noise. It almost sounds like it is coming from the discharge intercooler pipe. Like right infront of my feet on the otherside of the firewall. I started thinking maybe when I rotated the IC pipes per the directions that something got loose or is rubbing. I don't see anything that looks out of place at this time.

Another way to describe the sound is that it is almost like a bad synchro when switching gears.

Maybe it is the factory recirulator (blow off) valve chattering?

All the sounds you hear are normal, that chug sound is most likely the bov abruptly closing. I heard that too when i hacked the stock airbox.

I installed the GM cold air intake on my 2007 Solstice GXP and am experiencing the same issue you describe.

The GM Crate Engine guys told me they had not heard of this problem?
