It's (the stock downpipe) so close to a gt35R outlet flange it makes you wonder..

Sorry I have been lax. The wastegate actuator is STILL on backorder so I havn't progressed any further on that front.
I used the time instead to finish the mold of the engine cover. When it's done green'n out for a week I'll start vacuum baggin some carbon engine covers.

Well I called today and it appears it might be a few weeks before I can get an actuator for the Gt3071R-wg.

Should I go grab a gt3076R and put an 38mm tial on it? or should we stay the course and just wait until garrett gets some new actuators made?

This is a GT35R powdercoated and Swaintech Whitelightnin'd. It's a turbo i did for a yellow MR2. whaddaya think of the color scheme? might look good onthe solstice and would be a good compromise between the blue I like and the purple the wife wants!

In some ways it will be easier, the 3076R comes as a cartrige and compressor housing. Then they give you 6 turbines to choose from. .63,.86,1.06 with either the 4Bolt 3" outlet or 90mm v-band. It's already a round 3" like the downpipe, making the adapter even easier to build, possible from 1 dual bolt pattern flange. I was thinking of mounting the gate on the tangent of the turbine housing if it wont fit inverted.
But here comes the rub, the outlet pipe of the gate has to be reintoduced before the cat and there isnt room before the flange. The return tube will have to be holesaw cut into the top (or bottom) of the downpipe before the monolith and welded in.
No problem for me, but not everyone has access to a welder/weldor.
The other option is a custom downpipe w/highflow cat.
next thing is BOV placement. The easiest thing to do would be to install it in the elbow before the stock tubing returning to the compressor inlet. I'm a big proponet of having minimal flow reversal so I might put it (Turbonetics GOdzilla) in the return pipe before the throttle plate and run a 2" tube back to the compressor inlet.

It also makes a gt3582R a bolt in.

BTF, what are your thoughts about using the old disco potato? Would it keep more of the car's low end grunt?

For sure,
it has a much smaller turbine than the 3076-wg.
Those used to be real popular but seem to have fallen out of favor in recent. Most folks go to the GT2876R cause it cost the same, and there is very liittle low end penalty for a good deal more top end.

you ain' lyin brother! whew! I'll get my list for the pricing tomorrow. along with a GT3076R and .82 turbing housing.
The date on the wastegate actuator on the smaller turbo is YTBD so I figured winter is hurtling at me. I'll put an external gated one on first.

Vent the gate externally, everyone will know you're coming a mile away

I agreed

There were some small revisions made and final clearances will be checked soon. Then they will be available for people that want big upgrades on the 2.4 or 2.0L.
