INtercooler romoval troubles.

OK ive been fussing around with trying to get this intercooler off for about 30 min. I cant seem to get it to slip out of the hoses. I have clamps very loose so I know its noot that. My instructions say to just wiggle it out but that doesnt seem to work. Its moved about 1/4" from where it was before I started but it doesnt want to move anymore.

Should I just WD the crap out of it or is there a trick?

Oh and Im loosing it on the top non-intercooler side. The other clamps were too buried to get with a driver.

shove a straight slot screw driver in between the hose and IC, that will break the seal of the hose and allow for removal.

I always use a little 409 or something like it. Squirt it around the hose openings and then run your straight blade screwdriver around the inside of the hose. They will basically fall off.

OK I couldnt really get anything in there. After a bunch of pulling and twisting and wiggling I got the passenger side off. The drivers wouldnt budge so I ended up taking off the driver piping at the intake coupler and twisting it till it came off.

After it came off the install wasnt too bad the Hahn intercooler pipes seem to line up farther back than stock. I think I still need to tweak it a bit cause the intercooler piping support holes dont really ailign now. I took it out on the street and she would show 17lbs. I couldnt here any leaks. Im gonna put the front end on tonight.

In the process I managed to break the lower driver tab on my shoud. Anyone know what the part number is to order another one?

Hey Adam,

I just installed the Dejon intercooler, and even though I have been working on high-performance Euro cars for many years now, this was a pain in the butt. But I got 'er done in about 4 hours, which included some tweeking and getting drinks as it is bloody hot here in the coastal Texas area. Anyway, hope you got it done and if you have any questions, pm me and I will assist wherever I can. Good Luck...

There is a hose puller, it starts as an ice pick and there is actually two ninety degree bends at the end with the tip pointing back at the hand. It is simple and works very well.

I used a little soapy water and sprayed it into the hose as I pulled it away just a tad. They loosend immediately.

I used to get motorcycle handgrips off by letting some rubbing alcohol seep / wick inside, but back then I wasn't a cigar smoker.
