Does anyone know how our turbine maps to the stock Audi K04 turbines? If ours is the same or smaller we may be able to leverage the already available aftermarket impellers.

Blouch turbo does work on the K04s that I have seen on the net. They do a 27lb/min compressor and an impeller upgrade for the Audi A6.

I'm just not sure of the specs on our stock stuff.

Is it not more expensive to replace the impeller setup then it is to just replace the turbo?

Typically no, but it varies from turbo to turbo.

ΙΜΗΟ the Audi RS6 uses the K04-029 turbo which is slightly more efficient than our K04-025.
Our K04-025 is the same as in Audi RS4.
Right now i'm in contact with a tech shop in Netherlands ...he installs a compressor wheel from a garett T28 into our turbo along with some port/polish.
He told me he will sell to me a new K04-025 hybrid with the new compressor wheel, not just a compressor wheel.
it's pricey...approx 2.500 usd.!!!

Close. People are getting ~290whp with those mods.

Ouch! You might as well get a Garrett GT series for that price.

latest info is that this mod sacrifices low end torque at the expense of high end power/torque and the spool up in rpm takes 300-400 rpms more.

that's not an option for me,i like low end grunt/punch.
Anyway i'm searching for the closest alternative on our turbo..!

BTW,can anyone tell me what is the serial part no. on our little K04-025 turbo?there must be a label attached on it..!

Pricey indeed, but if you'd send him your turbo im sure the compressor swap would be cut to well under $1000.

I think BF is working on something similar and his prices if he can pull it off, will be around 1K USD, or I believe that is what he is targeting as the price.

It's not that its any more efficient, its that it flows more.

Here is a comparison of the stock impeller, RS6 impeller and a K16 which can both be fitted to our turbo. The K16 takes some machine work to relieve the housing. I would be very interested to see how the RS6 impeller performs in our turbo. Should be a good comprimise between low end torque and more high end power. The RS4s get a nice boost in power from the same swap.

Cant go too big on the wheel without increasing the size of the turbine spinning it. Otherwise you get a phenomenon called slip, making for a very poor performing turbo.
The middle one looks like it would be within the 15% rule O' thumb on turbine/compressor wheel OD's.
