I thought I'd come in here and vent. Installed Magnaflow 3" exhaust this week and I have water dripping from every joint and little exhaust leaks can be heard. I'm pissed just spent the last 1/2 hour laying on my back trying to remedy this. I guess I'll be spending more money for top qulity clamps. Don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but thought I'd let anyone know if they are thinking of this system, check around before spending your money.

Magnaflow 3" Exhaust for GXP too short

Yea, I just received my Magnaflow 3" exhaust for my GXP. The problem I am having is the exhaust is 2.5 inches too short. There is not nearly enough overlap in the joints. Maybe that is contributing to your leaks as well.

Why would he weld it? There's no welding required. I didn't have any leaks (that I noticed) I'll have to check again when I get it back from the dealership (it will be there a long time I fear)

Well, if you guys take it to a good custom muffler shop they'll fix it all for you.

My guy bends, opens, reduces, and welds great.

Paid a professional $75 to install the exhaust--just not worth the time and frustration doing some things yourself especially an exhaust on a car that sits so low. Sure this is not what you want to hear but in my mind there is such a thing as false economy. Take it to a pro and forget about it.

mine bolted right in and I have no leaks. I did have the moisture issue but I realized it was jsut te preservative oils baking off. The two joining pipes do not go completly in full recess but if you center the adjustment on both joins there is plenty to couple and seal.

You can always head off this type problem with a clamped system by using a sealant right off the bat. Walker sells a good product and you can find a tube of it at NAPA or Pep Boys. There will always be moisture, just so happens water will find the path of least resistance and instead of dripping out the tailpipe it will drip at the joints.

But as suggested teh full fix is to have the full system welded (may require removal of suspension components for installation)

Mine bolted right up with no problem. I torqued it down to the recommended specs and havent had any issues at all.

FWIW I bolted mine together, I centered the mid pipe between the front and muffler. It took all of 30 seconds with the magic marker to verify the overlap. I have no less than 1.5" overlap in each connection.

As long as you torque it to the recommended specs, you should be fine with leaks. I believe the recommended torque on the 3 inch clamps is 65 ft./lbs.

Yea something in that vicinity. I torqued it to 60 ft./lbs. and it seemed really tight and the clamps were just about bottoming out. Next weekend I will be checking to make sure they all stayed tight.
