what kind of numbers ARE being seen with a stock turbo on a gxp ? lets say different intercooler, the ability to tune, good fuel, no restrictions in the exhaust, wastegate turned up and less 10 feet of vac line that is routed to hell and back. lol
what real numbers are out there ?

Well 1st of all the wastegate mod will have to stay at the OEM position, if using a tune, like Westers or BSR.
The numbers are from 250 RWHP to 290 RWHP

why does the wastegate need to be in the oem position? has anyone tweaked the vac signal through a regulator or adjusted the rod to get higher boost yet ?

Limp mode is how they found out the wastegate rod needed to go back to its original length.

I have the Westers tune and my wastegate is not back to normal. It is about four turns shy of all the way up. No codes here. Plus, I have shown a crossfire, mustang GT and a 350Z that the Solstice is not to be messed with.

Well in that case the factory turbo is likely to run out of breath in the 290-310 whp range. If you want to make any REAL power you'll need to replace it.

It was posted before that the MFG specs say that the turbo is capable of 375hp

Umm... Where? There's no way that turbo has enough flow on our I4 to produce 375. The actual manufacturers specs for the K04-025 is 260hp.

That's the efficiency map for our turbo:

You'll see even 260 is pushing it a bit. (horsepower along the bottom)

Which begs the question, is that map even accurate? Wasnt gm pushing the stock turbo to 425 ft/lbs of torque at topeka?

i know that a small turbo can make more boost than most people think. i had a garret off a earlier saab turbo on my 2.2 ecotec and it would go over 25psi in a snap !

we will see what this stock lnf turbo can do soon.

i am building a off road car (sandrail) and i am using a motor out of a 2007 gxp turbo. i have used the ecotec in my last 3 offroad cars and like the motor alot ! hell i even went out and bought a cobalt for my daily driver. the lnf has a stand alone system so i can tune with no problems. straight exhaust. wastegate will just run a single vac line to the manifold nice and simple. i want to run 20 psi or more and will run race gas if needed. i have a large intercooler and more piping than the stock gxp so a pressure drop and lag could be a problem but time will tell.

This is what GM has gotten on 110 race gas in the Gardella Drift Solstice. The hp is 335 but look at the torque! It has a Hahn intercooler mounted vertically with 3 fans pushing air through it. The info is straight from the site listed in my signature.

2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP
Production 2.0L ECOtec LNF turbocharged with race-only calibration
330 hp @ 4500-6000rpm
425 lb-ft @ 3600rpm
7000rpm rev limit
Straight-thru 3” exhaust, with catalytic converter delete
Gardella Racing induction system
