i have an 07 gxp, and my dad has an 07' corvette c6
what are some of the best ways to upgrade the gxp for best horsepower benifits
i have already done the rod mod, bypass solenoid mod, bov spring and a homemade air box upgrade with a drop in k&n filter. i am now thinkking of an intercooler and exhaust. believe it or not the gxp isnt all that much slower than the vet right now until we hit about 130mph. can someone steer me in the right track, i can do the work but i am not very fimiliar with the 4 cylinder world yet because i work for cummins on big offshore boats.
any help would be appreciated
It's going to be hard to beat his C6 on the top end. Look into turbo back and a good, aggresive tune first. Not sure you need an upgraded intercooler just yet. It's not typical that an intercooler actually provides more hp.
I don't think the Sol's gearing will allow you to beat your dad without going into serious drag building - gearing, supercharger or nitrous, etc. You could drop the same Vette engine in. One of the mags has that mod posted.
If you really want to show up your dad, you could: 1) Race him on a good twisty; 2) Compare car payments!
You could work on detuning his vet for a short period, just to beat him once. Cheaper in the long run.
Even better, understand that these cars were made for a different purpose and love them both for what they are...sorta like Dads do to their kids.

Will you be in Denver for the 2009 Summer Solstice?

3. race to a far away location using only 1 tank of gas.
There is one trick that has worked for me in the past:
Setup a race at the local track. When he is not paying attention, drown his rear tires in armorall. You may just get far enough ahead that he won't be able to catch you before the 1/4 mile.
Dejon Powerhouse 5027RE or GT30R turbo upgrade and tune.
Agreed.
C6 gets gas mileage almost as good as yours, both cars get plenty of attention, the C6 is a very track capable car, and screwing with other racer's tires just shows a lack of integrity.
The odds are stacked against you, but it's nothing a good power adder can't help.
just to make myself clear im not trying to do it on top end i have driven his car several times and have seen what it is capable of on top end. i just got my new ecm in from westers garage and installed it. i put the rod back to its stock location. i have to say i am prety impressed with it. but like you guys say its a long shot and i still have a good ways to go. i guess my next step is the high flow cat and an exhaust, any sugestions?? ( im not scared of noise)
Solo CAT, Street Race, Dejon Spring and Intercooler and a Westers Tune. You will have close to 300RWHP and you would definitely surprise him. To beat him you'll need a turbo upgrade.

The Vette is going a good 10mph faster (on average) at the 1/4 mile mark. That's a huge difference in performance. And as the speeds increase, the Vettes advantage will increase.
As mentioned, you will need a turbo upgrade and supporting mods to keep up or beat your dad's Vette at speeds over 80mph.
