Possible valve tap

So I got the car about 3 weeks ago used, it is an 08 with 16k miles. I put the I/C kit and intake on last week and I think I am hearing a valve tap. It is not really knocking, but its a noticable ticking. I have never heard another Solstice nor an ecotech engine so I am unsure. Is this something that is common? I assume it isnt. I guess I am going to have to remove all the mods and take it in. I am going to leave the after market I/C on because I don't think they will notice it anyways.
Any thoughts?

You are probably hearing the fuel pump. Check this thread: Tapping sound

yes search is your friend. I have enjoyed every new owner as they discover the nuances of the kappa. the 2.0 lnf the 1 "tap" per second or so at idle is the fuel pump. It will increase with rpm, then seem to stop as rpms increase....NORMAL. You will also hear the injectors cycling, just like a diesal...NORMAL. Just to give you a heads up, you may hear a clunk in the differential at low speeds, like say parking lot speed. Especially if you have a manual trans..NORMAL.. also you may hear squeaks from the bushings when it is very cold out. If you have a manual you may feel a grind from 1st to 2nd - fyi, shift at a higher rpm....NORMAL. There may be some other quirks with the car, but relax and enjoy your new ride.

IF the dealership scans your PCM they will see it has been flashed with a non GM program and no more powertrain warranty. My advice is to stay far far away from the dealership.

Also, if you go to get into your car and the door handle comes off in your hand, NORMAL LOL

Well, not desirable normal but it does happen. Not a problem though. Just get in the other side and go to your dealer who will replace it for you.

If your front cupholder fails to open or fails to close or just falls off also NORMAL.

But again, hold your drink in your hand, toodle off to the dealer and he will install a new one like mine did.

But, hit a 20 mph corner at 60 and hit the gas, swoop around the corner with the tires on the edge of breaking loose into a controllable slide and come out the other side at 80 on the way to 120 and that is also NORMAL.

Gotta love this car. My wife holding on for dear life to BOTH grab handles with a big smile plastered on her face . NORMAL

Miata drivers seen giving the one finger salute as they disappear around a curve in my rear view NORMAL

Little kids running into the street as you pass and screaming COOL CAR NORMAL

Corvette drivers looking really really irritated as you drift out of a corner right on their fiberglass butt NORMAL

Taking off all four wheels just to clean the inside of the wheels NORMAL

Cleaning out the wheel wells while the wheels are removed NORMAL

Using a qutip to clean out the last speck of dust inside the center brake light NORMAL

Having a custom windrestrictor for daily driving and one for show days NORMAL

Actually they will not. My information is that the dealer generally does not have the ability to read the version numbers etc that are in the ECM. The factory support folks can but they will only do so if your motor blows up and you need to get a replacement. Then they pull the ECM and ship it to the factory for detailed review.

My dealer installed half the after market crap I have on my cars and is good with it. As long as I keep bring it back to them for service they are good with it. They know I don't abuse the car. They also know I drive it like its supposed to be driven. Not an issue.

I have even had parts drop shipped to the dealer and then a month later taken the cars in and had mods installed and tweaked.

Enjoy the car.

I saw someone post a bulletin that went out to dealers saying to check for aftermarket ECU configuration and then take a picture of it and send it to GM. So the dealers can tell if you have aftermarket ECM configurations or not.

I bet it said something like this:

"Once documentation of the non-GM calibration has been received, and verification has taken place through GM, the remaining powertrain and driveline warranty will be cancelled and noted in VISS, and the dealership will receive the following notification:

Based on information that has been received, please inform the customer that the Powertrain portion of the New Vehicle Warranty is no longer in effect for the engine, transmission, driveline and rear axle on VIN XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, due to the presence of non-GM calibrations and / or equipment. The stresses resulting from the non-GM calibrations and / or equipment were not validated by GM and therefore cannot be warranted on any components that are subject to those stresses. Repairs to powertrain or driveline components that may currently require repair should not be covered under the terms of the new vehicle warranty. The warranty group has been advised of this information and VISS will be updated accordingly."

I was told by a GM Vette Tech that he can tell if there a non GM flash, it will so a "*" by the flash number.

I will have a Tech II in hand tomorrow so I will be able to see first hand if it is the device that will show any changes.
