   So any turbo upgrades available?

Does anyone know of any turbo upgrades for the GXP? From this forum I see that it is a small borg-warner setup... has anyone stuck in a GT28RS or a GT2871R yet? Borg-warners dont get to big but some people do make turbine/compressor swaps in the VW world... Any info? Has anyone got passed the ECU tuning problem via just using a unit from the 2.4l that could be tuned?

The 2.4L unit wont work on this engine. The entire system is completely different. This is a system sourced from Bosch to control the SIDI engine.

Yeah I understood that www.forcedinductions.com is working on an upgrade for our cars. Will be a direct swap using the stock unit. I will be getting something for mine as soon as its available.

With a bigger turbo you will need a new tune. Might as well upgrade all the piping at the same time.

Until there is a way to retune the motor all this is kinda pointless. You know how easy it is to make a manifold and throw on a better turbo? I can do that in my back yard with a tig and some pipes.

you can always get a haltek and start from scratch. I did it on my porsche and would never do it again.

With the commanded a/f feature in the gxp ecm it seems that it adjusts the a/f ratio on the fly to hit that specific command a/f ratio. If the injectors can flow the fuel it would seem that the ecm would just add more fuel with a bigger turbo to hit that a/f.
Im just guessing but it looks like the ecm works this way.

Good luck getting a base map for a gxp on a haltech, let alone getting it to idle right and so forth... nightmare i tell ya.

Does the 335i have the same ECU as our cars? If it does, that's been cracked and maybe one of their tuners could take a shot at ours. If I had the funds, I'd see if Vishnu could crack it for us.

Yeah, I think they (Forced Inductions) are a engineering house for Borg Warner, Garrett, Turbonetics...etc, so they do alot of R&D work. Looks like Borg Warner has sent them one of the turbos that is on our cars for them to work and offer an upgrade. Should be something nice indeed.

As for tuning I think HP tuners is working on something, plus you could always just tie in a Greddy S-AFC into the car.

I don't think you can use the S-AFC on returnless fuel systems. Also, are there any provisions for direct injection?

are there any management systems that could possibly work.. or a shop that could individually tune a car with a custom turbo?

I would imagine that there are no off the shelf systems that would work. From everything thatI have read, there are up to 3 injection events per combustion cycle compared to 1 for a standard fuel injection car. The timing and duration of each of those injection events would need to identified and emulated in the ems before you could even start thinking about changing them. It's not just 3x the work to get a tune but a magnitude of 3 since each injection would affect the others. And then you would need to determine if/when/how to decrease the number of injections...

You are correct, however the diesel guys have been doing this for several years. The dash hawk guys are affilated with someone that does this in that world.

Here is my take on it and the route I plan on going when i get mine.

You get an AIC (additional injector controller). Greddy sells it and it runs additional injectors based on RPM and Boost. So tell the unit at what RPM you want it to kick in and increase the fuel as the boost goes up.

You will have to tap into the fuel tank and run a fuel pressure regulator setup to the injector.

If I not mistaking GM is already doing this with this SIDI engine and the high preasure pump (2250LBS) and regulator.
