Its all wideband. So, I mean it would be better to tune but. A larger compressor is going to provide much more power even at the same boost levels so... Go for it.
Yeah I kinda had a brain fart the other day and realized a regular aftermarket ECU wouldn't work with the injectors. Since it is direct injection I will assume the injectors fire at a certain time just like a spark plug which noe of them would do to my knowledge.

Guys, I've been here a few days mostly doing personal research on the new GXP I picked up last Friday. Of course there is limited knowledge on this new dpi platform and I'm all for brainstorming ideas, but please keep in mind this new platform is not your typical turbo application. Simply tapping additional injectors isn't going to work: a. It's direct port injection! Adding fuel anywhere else will make tuning a nightmare imo. b. these motors are working at very high pressures and complex injector pulse methods, good luck getting anything to match. c. Without specific details of min-max capabilities of the injectors, fuel pump flow rate, etc. It's very hard if not impossible to know exactly the safe limitations of the motor. d. There's no capability to modify the ecu as of right now, so adjusting base timing tables, etc makes all this additional work useless and potentially dangerous to the motor. If ANYTHING, I would suggest trying water/alchohol injection before attempting to add additional injectors or any other fueling trickery.
If we're looking for possible upgrades, then no doubt the cast intake and exhaust manifolds could use a good extrude porting. The turbo exhaust and compressor housings could be port and polished to allow for faster spool up, but the thing is so damn tiny, I wouldn't even bother doing anything other than a port with that housing.
If you have turbo questions feel free to ask. I'm not here to only learn, but also to share my knowledge (what ever hasn't seeped out of my noggin yet lol). Also, Jose at FI is a smart guy and I am sure he can answer any questions you have as well.
the thing is so damn tiny, I wouldn't even bother doing anything other than a port with that housing....

informative post, thanx, the spools are small because small spools are better for spoolup, I'm wondering why there isn't a seperate spool for each cylendar?

Not sure what you mean by "spools" The tiny exhaust wheel will allow the turbo to spool up faster for sure, but at an expense of limited high-rpm boost capabilities. These turbos already die out at about 5500 motor rpm. I wouldn't push them past 17-18psi as pretty much anything higher is just an expensive hair dryer (aka inefficient).

they're dual spool to try to provide the same effect as a big turbo but with quicker spool up
you mean the turbo is a twin scroll design; meaning there are two veins within the exhaust housing to promote higher and smoother exhaust velocities through the exhaust housing of the turbo.
Yeah I was hoping that an additional in port injector system would have been common sense not to do on this motor.
One of the major purposes of DI is the allowence of incredible overlap, which can only be done due to the injection timing. On a stock motor you would be literally be blowing fuel out of the exhaust.
PLUS, eventually, a source of mine tells me they will be coming out with new cams for the LNF, and adding an additional lobe on the Mechanical pump cam lobe. Right now they run 3 lobes, a fourth is going to come into play, that should provide a bit more volume. The injectors won't be an issue until a new turbo is introduced.

I doubt it, they're probably smaller then the ones we have. The 335i uses 6 injectors to make 300hp while we use only 4 to make 260. At best they're the same size as ours or most likely smaller.

One of the tuners stated that 335i owners wouldn't have to worry about injector upgrades for quite awhile if at all. They're at 340whp with ECM and exhaust. I'll see if I can find the exact quote. Maybe I can get a make and model of injector and compare it to ours.

We're still making more hp per injector then they are, but who knows.
Anyway i was looking at the vishnu "ecm" that they have for the 335i, turns out that its simply a type of piggy back computer. They havent cracked the ecm at all.
