(and the high flow cat)

Few quick thoughts, the fitment was beautiful.. and looks amazing. The installer had to lift the engine a bit to get at the turbo manifold to remove the stock exhaust but other then that it went flawless, sits really nice (a tiny bit higher then stock even which is great where I am lowered).

Turning it on, I was warned the sound will be bad for a while then get better and this is true. Within 5 minutes it started to sound deeper and better.

It sounds almost stock when idle, hardly any difference from my GXP exhaust (maybe a tiny bit louder but not much), normal driving is a bit louder, not really much deeper but the tone is really nice (I liked the stock tone it just wasn't loud enough). But then you hit the gas and it gets throaty and mean (in a good way!). easily twice as loud (or more) then stock. Now we're talking.

I haven't been able to really open it up yet so I cant comment on performance. I didn't really notice any throttle response difference but I was focused on listening more then anything. I'm going to take her for a rip now and see what happens.

Anyone who has one of these, have you noticed your tone change over time? like after a few days/weeks?

Damn it really opens up the top end. I hit redline much faster then I was used to. I was pulling out on the highway and punched it and hit the rev limiter.. caught me off guard!

then it made a terrible back fire sound and I heard what sounded like glass breaking (muffler baffle?)?

Tell me this is normal

Oh the back fire is. You'll get use to it. The breaking glass sound not sure on that but its been a while since I got mine in I tend to forget what it sounded like in the begining. It doesn't happen all the time. Also puffs of white smoke will happen from time to time this is also normal.

I was in teh drive through with a modded Trans Am a day ago. He was loud but I noticed he was looking in the rear view mirror to find out what the hell was behind him when I came up. I don't tend to show off but it was fun just that once.

Dreams of mach exhaust and BTF turbo are dancing in my head. Just got to finish my other project first. Well that's what I keep telling myself.

How much HP do you gain with this setup? Also, what do you gain HP wise with a bigger down pipe? Thanks!

I havent dyno'd before and after, but according to SOLO's website they claim 34 HP with high flow cat and exhaust. I can't say if that's true, but it definitely feels like it revs faster to redline then before. especially 4000+ rpm.

God it sounds good though!

Haven't heard any other glass breaking. Did backfire once more but this time it wasn't so shocking.

Prob just where it was new.

Now I just need to get my 2008 tune from Lyndon. Its paid for, just need to pick a few days I can go carless.. which probably wont be for 2 weeks now. Can't wait. I'll wait on the turbo upgrade until next year.

It will be soon holmes, Mr Wester bought an 08' so he can cater to you folks. (I think he actually got jealous that were having all the fun)
You'll have your Westers 08' race tune along with your 08' RaceTurbofreak GT30 tune. Very soon.

Can't wait for the GT30 tune! Soon as that is ready we'll talk. I need more power!

CEL came on today. Is this normal? Prob airflow related.. I don't have an ODBII device to read it yet. It was after some.. uhm.. hard driving.

Should I reset the ECU and let it learn over again, or is it okay to leave it as is?

Thanks for the nice comments! DrSyn we're very glad that you like your new set up. I don't know about the breaking glass but it does have a nice "burble" especially on deceleration. That's perfectly normal. As for the cel. It could be many things... The first thing to do is check for any leaks ( even small ones will cause an engine light ) in these places.
1) Turbo to cat connection.
2) O2 sensor in the cat
3) Cat to front pipe connection.
4) O2 connection in front pipe
If there is a leak anywhere in these areas it will cause a light to come on. If there is no leak.
Next...
Disconnect the battery ( positive cable ) for about 1 minute and the computer will reset the light. If it doesn't come back on there are no worries. If it does come back on get the code scanned and find out what the error code is and give me a call or a PM. You can try the battery disconnect before you check for leaks just to see if it stays off. Thanks.
