tunes,tunes,tunes

Can anyone tell me which one is the best as far as hp and torque gain.I have an auto and was wondering if any change in the tcm is effected with any of the tunes.Getting the bug to make a jump for one or the other. The other option is to wait for gm or the combo that I keep hearing about from btf and a tune. Thanks for any info to help make my decision.

I don't think anyone's cracked the TCM yet. I might be wrong. I think Westers provides the most hp gain.

I am sort of in the same boat as you are, so far I am just sitting in the side lines waiting until someone cracks the TCM, GM comes out with there new kit, or someone with an auto posts dynos and etc of one of the tunes and there experiences make it seem worth it.

I have seen the GXP auto on the dyno, they do not dyno well (at least on an eddy current dyno), I saw 2 the same day. Westers has cracked the tcm and can adjust the shift points. A manual and a auto that ran side by side in the 1/4 the night before, both with the Westers tune dynoed with a 50 rwhp difference, it's the torque converter just messes up the dyno run they can't lock it into 4th with the auto.

One of the cars that lilgoat saw on the dyno was mine. I can assure you the tune makes a huge difference in the automatic no mater what the dyno said. It is plenty "o" power.

As the slogan goes, just do it.

No regrets.

Chuck

I took the tune off for a long roadtrip just in case some problems showed up. Going back to the stock tune was like going back to driving my NA.

My name is Lee Howie and I own Howie Automotive. I have a 2008 Solstice GXP and have been tuning turbo cars since 1977. My 08 Solstice with a stock turbo, intercooler, tires, and everything except for 3" Magnaflow exhaust, K&N Filter, Cat delete, Methanol injection, manual boost controller, and my own HP tune (this car is an automatic) has run a best of 12.38 with the best mph of 111.86 in the 1/4 mile. If you should need any help or have questions please call me at 614 836-9730. Also my resume includes building and owning a 1993 True Street Mustang which for 4 years dominated True Street - 3,510 lbs, stock suspension, DOT tires, after a 3 hour drive ran 3 passes in St Louis back-to-back and had an average of 8.27 at 172 mph.

That's amazing. So are you selling your tune? How much has the methanol injection helped?

What is the best? I have asked myself that question for months. The conclusion I came to was Westers! Free upgrades for life, Most HP and Torque, and he’s been around for years with a great rep. You cant beat that. and sense he just released the 08 tune. I ordered it last week. However it is also the most expensive tune on the market. Their are other options if you don’t want to spent the cash. I know Dejon is testing a tune right now. He does great work and I’m sure it will be a good tune for ½ the price.

BSR tuner drag radials no other mods on a 2008 gxp auto best 1/4 mile time is 13.22 and 0-60 4.47. I just love the tune!

Go with Westers. You wont be disappointed. You can also purchase HP tuners if you want, so you can recieve your tune and/or updates instead of shipping out your ecm. Same concept as the BSR but Westers has better performance gains, and he can tune it to your mods.
