Actually BSR owners wait for stage 3 the stage 2 is already out. the stage 2 is the cat back exhaust and the bsr suggest 2.5 inch exhaust i don't know why.... the stage 3 will have a downpipe and a new more aggressive software..

2.5 exhaust? That's the same size as stock.

Isn't it technically a Stage 1 kit? I mean...think about it....

Forgive me (I was away for a while) but I thought you had to send the ECM in physically because there were certain parts Lyndon could not reach through the HPT software. I am to assume this has been overcome and now you have the option of either?

Also, if I purchased the tune from Westers last August, would the new race tune be considered a free upgrade or is it an entirely new tune that I would have to purchase in addition to the previous one?

What tune did you buy last August? I don't think he was selling them yet. LilGoat was in the test phases in September

My understanding was that they stopped selling via HP Tuners because of the risk of pirating. However, it appears they can now mate the tune to your VIN/ECU somehow.

As for whether HP Tuners can access all the features that Westers modifies, I think that HP Tuners cannot access them all via their editor. But the tool can load all ECU data, even data it doesn't understand. So Westers likely places the new maps in the HP Tuners file, even if HP Tuners can't decipher them and says "Just load this, don't worry your little head about the stuff you don't understand."

Thanks, Ender, that makes sense.

I got the tune right before Labor Day because I drove it up to Maine. I believe the actual date was August 24th.

It is the "91OctaneHOT" tune.

HPTuners software downloads and writes the whole ECM program, it it only limited in letting you change particular things. For example, during the mod meet, Attempting to program an Auto, it was downloaded and discovered that the tune matched the data on a Manual but yet a manual tune when uploaded to an Auto, did not allow the car to start. Reloading the Auto default, the car started. So the downloaded file has much more involved in it then what HPTuners allows us to see and Westers can manipulate the data with a separate piece of custom software that he wrote. It is then locked to your VIN/ECM, you will have issues with the car if you try to load it on another.

If you bought your tune from Westers, then resend it to him for the latest changes. His email can be found on the Wester Garage web site. You would be eligible for free upgrades. If you have mailed in you ECM, then you either need to resend the ECM or find someone locally that has HPTuners so you can download the tune and send it to Wester for an update. (or buy HPTuners)

Has anyone re-dyno'd a Westers tune a month later to be sure the ECU didn't 'learn' the new power state and reduce torque/power back to near stock?

It won't do that.

I have the HP Tuners hardware. Sent him the stock settings last Thursday. Still waiting to hear back. Should I have sent the modified tune instead of the stock? Guess I should ask him, I just hate to bother the guy knowing how busy he is.

I sent my stock tune in this morning. This afternoon, I got the Wester's Race tune back via email. Loaded it into the car this evening after moving the wastegate rod back to stock...

Amazing! Finally a Turbo Solstice mod I can feel! Never felt a thing with turbo back exhaust or inlet/intercooler pipes.

The car needs a bigger turbo... falls flat on her face over 6000rpm, even though she'll now rev to 7000. But 'til then... 20 to 22psi of boost. It's a new car! What GM should have delivered in the first place.
