Yet another 3" magnaflow (self) install today

Installed my Magnaglow today, took about 2 hours (changed oil at the same time). Wow, it makes quite a bit of difference. It spools almost immediately...

The sound on the website is accurate, I wish it was louder, but it's the wifes car, so she'll probably like it. It's more throaty, a few burbles on decel, but after 4k rpm, the engine noise overpowers the exhaust, and there's no noticeable drone.

I'd say I spent 50% of the time aligning everything, at first it was touching the rear plastic, but after finagling, I got it .5 away.

Also, it hangs about .5" lower than the stock (duh, it's .5' wider) and the resonator in the middle is now the lowest thing on the car (by about .5").

One last thing, my stock pipe had the temperature shroud near the diff. I thought about running to the muffler shop to get one welded on, but there's probably not enough room to do any good. So I simply put some of my 1000 degree hose shielding on that pipe area held on by some clamps. I'm not sure that will do any good (and it looks pretty rigged if you look under there), I measured the temps using my infrared dealy, and it was about 20% lower in temp. That's the only thing I could think of on short notice...

Takin it to the track this weekend, so we'll see how she does...

Oh yeah, big performance differenece in the low-ish RPMs. In competition mode it spins like crazy if you want it too. Like I said, the spool up is faster, so it makes a large difference in seat of the pants...

Kind of makes me wish we could get a BOV for this thing.

I didn't mention I raced 2 ricers as well. This thing is such a sleeper.. It was so sad how far back they got left.

I also didn't point out my wife drove the GXP, as I was driving the Viper srt, and with her traction control on, she blew ME away (cause I was just sitting there spinning like a moron).

Anyway, I am consantly surprised how fast this thing really is, it reminds me of my turbo supra before I modded it...

Good luck with the installs

I've got the 'alpha' install from the MF factory, and I just love it! Glad to hear that you (all) are enjoying it as well!
