hello everybody from a new member,

i just got my 2007 Solstice for my 42nd birthday. i love my solstice, have always wanted one from the first pictures of the show car. mine is silver(cool) with ebony leather interior. it has premium package, steering wheel controls, antilock brakes, xm radio, preferred package, air conditioning, floor mats, 7 speaker monsoon, 6-disc changer, acoustic headliner, convenience package, 5spd automatic, chrome wheels and limited slip.

kind of wander off of my original question. i'm wanting to add a dual exhaust system (either with a high flow cat or cat back exhaust system) and maybe a cold air intake system. i don't want to have to reprogram the computer or invaildate my 7 year bumper to bumper warranty.

i'm new to the modern modifications so any help would be appreciated. i had a little experience in the 80's with my 1986 Grandnational but that has been a long time ago and there have been many major improvements since than.

you could say that i am old school. i also own a 1970 GTO that i use for car shows and cruise-ins. i have been a Pontiac fanatic all my life. thank you for your time.

Welcome. There's a lot of stuff to learn here. Hang out and read a lot....you'll like it.
Momma's car is sorta like yours except it has a manual transmission. I put a GM CAI on it...Looks good and sounds pretty cool too. Put a SOLO SQR-2 exhaust and a hi-flow cat on it a couple of weeks ago....Looks great and sounds awesome.
A lot a guys here say that changing your ECM doesn't void the warranty. You'll have to be the judge of that. Discussions on this subject can get a little heated.
You'll enjoy the Smokies. Momma and I just came back from there Thursday....Our second trip with it. Put a little over 1300 miles on it. Had a blast.
Enjoy your car.
Tom

Simpling changing the ECM doesnt void your warranty however if you are that worried about it you can simply buy a new one from us programmed and swap them out for dealer visits

Yes, but adding a flashed one will void your warranty. Buy an extra one like Chris says,
and you will be ok.

Save your money, get your stock one reflashed. It didn't void my warranty . I had warranty work done and they were aware that the ECM was tuned, along with a Solo exhaust system.

Getting the ECM flashed does not automatically void your warranty. But with that in mind, it is possible for a car dealer to read the ECM and possibly tell that it was flashed. If you take your car in for a warranty repair and dealer tries to make a case that the damage was due to your ECM tune, you could possibly have a battle on your hands to get the repair covered under warranty.

Regarding the other mods you are looking at, Kappasphere sells the Fujita CAI, which I had on my first Solstice and really liked. There is also the GM Performance CAI, which is also available.

For exhausts, there are a lot of choices. Solo Performance has several options, there are Magnaflows available, and I think Kappasphere currently has a dual exhaust available for the NA Solstice. Just to name a few. Your decision probably will come down to what kind of sound you are looking for.

My recommendation is to get out to some local meets, where you will hopefully get to see and hear some of the different mods in person. That is really the best way to decide.

Solo makes some really great CAT and CAT-Back options and would highly recommend. MagneFlow made the CAT-back I have and love.

hello prattm

CAI stands for Cold Air Intake. there are different brands that take the place of the factory air box. most use a cone type filter. hope this was helpful

I had a Cold Air Intake and a cat-back exhaust installed by the dealer when I took initial delivery. Niether requires a reprogramming of the ECM. Both were worthwhile.
Good luck, and enjoy!

I would suggest the following, (This is whats on my car) A solo mach shorty header, Solo Hi-flow cat, A solo single n/a cat back, Fujita f5 CAI and a Vacter ecm tune. All tha should run you around, $1,500 and it completely transformas the car. But if you would like even more power try out a hahn racecraft turbo kit or a ddm superchager. An welcome!
