i just put a cold air intake on. when i rev up the engine in the garage, i notice kind of a sucking sound right when i push the gas. is this normal? i guess i've never reved it in the garage sitting still. it may do that normally. definatly a novice here so any feedback would be appreciated.
That is the sound of air moving into you intake to feed your ponies. You can't really hear it on a stock intake because you are getting about half the air as with a CAI

thanks, i thought i might be normal but was not sure. i had the ecm mod done today at vector and look foward to driving it tomorrow to really see what difference the two make. the ecm did give an extra kick, but i really did not get to run it to much. thanks for the input.
You are now drawing air from outside the engine compartment instead of from within, that contributes to the sound you hear. Think in terms of how much louder an engine is withthe hood open.

Achieftain, I am not sure what you are trying to say, but the biggest reason for the stock Solstice not to sound laud is because of the resonator box that feeds off the CAI on the stock Solstice, not only that but the opening for the air to come in into the stock CAI is further forward than either KappaSphere's or the GM one once you install either of these CAI's.

Bluesol,
Please don't forget to fill us in on your observations tomorrow after your run, thanks, -bird
i drove it quite a lot today, and i must say it's alot better. i wont be able to describe the difference the ecm retune makes with the technical terms, but it is noticably faster in the higher revs. i have not noticed very much starting out in first gear, but everywhere else it moves better. as for the cai, it sounds awesome. anyone who has one i'm sure would agree, thats the best part about it. the ecm retune and the cai were worth every penny if you ask me.
