After having my car at the dealership, I've been told that the computer printout tells them my air filter is really dirty. I have the GM CAI with the boot that covers the filter, and to be honest, I still haven't checked the thing. My question is, if it really needs replacing can I just clean it with one of the cleaning kits from K&N or do I need to purchase a new cone filter for it?

It is not an oiled filter, so no you can't use a K&N cleaning kit. You can use air and blow it out and use a soft brush in the pleats, or replace it.

How long as it been on?

Yikes! When I just looked at my invoice, it was put on April 6, 2007, or 11,902 miles ago! I thought it was oiled just like K&N's. Oh well, guess I better go to our favorite parts website to order a replacement. I think I saw it there for $34.95 or something close to that. Does anyone know how long it takes to actually receive your order? On May 24, I ordered a replacement dash piece and the personal audio link and I'm hoping I have a package every time I get home from work!
