Ok, Im new to modding my solstice. Just put on a GM intake last week. I know its "learning" but how long should it take to get where it needs to be? I ask this because between beltway and city driving I was back and forth from 18-22 mpg before. I got this intake thinking Id get a little better performance and gas mileage but no. So far its been a steady 17.8 - 18 mpg all week. Today, i went up to 18.1. Any ideas?

I don't know about mileage, but it seems that the actual performance gains are not that stunning. See What's all the Fuss: Cold Air Intake
for a complete discussion. Apparently, GM did a decent enough job on the stock intake that the gains from a CAI are minimal.

After adding a header, high flow cat and solo exhaust I am swapping back to the stock intake
to try to quiet it down a bit.

They intake will give you a 5-10% increase so if you were averaging 18 you would be getting 18.9 to 19.8 if you drove it the same, BUT like most of us you probably have your foot into it a bit more because of the sound.

The best performance gain bar none is the ecm tune. I recomend Vector, more power and better milage. I went from 26 mpg to 30 on the road.

Momma's car has a GM CAI and SQR-2 with hi flow Cat. Just got back from a 1325 mile trip in and around the Smoky Mountains. Averaged 28.5 MPG. I'm not real sure what the mileage is normally, but I'm sure it's not that much.
Tom

BTW, Nothing but 93 octane goes in the tank.

I have a CAI, Long Tubes, and exhaust and I'd be lucky to see 23.5 in the city. My foots not in the pedal either.

Keep in mind that it's also nearing Summer time, and almost all gas stations now are putting 10% ethanol into their gas (Which is less efficient than regular gasoline).

If you want to see an improvement in fuel economy, you should get a shorty header and high-flow cat.
