do you think it would be better to have the head ported before the stage 3 goes on.
maby ddm could sell it as a package stage 3 s/c with stand alone ECU, upgraded injectors, port and polished head with a 3 angle valve job. the ultimate set up
I would say get a late 06 or 07 2.4 L and then boost it. The late 06 or 07 to make sure you get the torque arm upgrade and a good diff.
As far as who to go with for boosting, man you have some excellent choice, the bottom line will depend on preference.
I went with Werks, and have been very very very happy with it
My reasons to go with Werks at the time was:
The tubular header, in my opinion flows better and looks wicked.
Boost psi for boost psi, Werks makes more horsepower than anyone else (some would say torque at lower RPM is more important, but there is something about a car that takes off like a bullet and runs to red line like a fret train)
The Werks turbo set up is more flexible with remote waste gate in my oppinion but a tad more tricky to instal and service the first few times (Hahn's is easier to instal and service).
Werks as a kit that includes everything you need to make your car a daily driver, with a bigger radiator, clutch....priced very well.
Mine is a daily driver and has proven to be very reliable even with the latest upgrade from Werks pushing 14 psi and 400 hp at the crank with water/meth injection.
Also Werks has been there for me and others with great customer service (I read the other vendors are also top notch as well).
My only issues right now, and this would be true with any Turbo/SC vendors are with the clutch, and the diff.
Again I feel you can't make a mistake. It is a matter of personal choices.
If you are withing driving distance from Ann Arbor MI, I'll take you for a drive so that you can experience my daily source of adrenaline (offer extended to anyone else as well....)

I got the itch for a GXP after driving my n/a for about a year. The dealer wanted $11,000 plus my '07 for the trade. So I had a Hahn Stage II installed. Other than having to replace some of the hose clamps with "T-bolt" clamps the conversion has been as reliable as could be hoped for. The additional power is a real rush. NO REGRETS!
I've been driving my '06 N/A since last July (bought it used) less the winter (parked Nov - Mar), and have put 24,000kms on it. While I love the car, it has always felt a little under powered. Last month I bought a DDM Stage 2 kit for it. Got the kit used from Bowhunter here on the forum. DDM supported me with new MAF tubes, Spark Plugs, ECM relash to Stage 2c, and several other nigley parts that didn't amount to any profit for DDM. Yesterday myself and a buddy - who just happens to be a master GM mechanic who specializes in Superchargers - put the kit in. I'm here now to say
THANK YOU DDM !
for the great engineering (Mike was also very impressed), to the great support - both for supplying the parts needed to upgrade an old kit, and for being there at 7PM or later on a Friday night, to help me through the last little steps.
I can't speak for the other kits on the market, but DDM is phenominal !
Today I had the pleasure of putting some miles on the kit. Man what a different car. Down low torque on command through virtually the whole RPM spectrum. Passing power like a V8 - and a hot V8 at that. Cool sound when the S/C kicks in - cannot be misintrepreted - you know it means business. THIS IS THE WAY THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUPPLIED !
To anybody out there who is contemplating more HP for your 2.4N/A, my advice is GO FOR IT ! This mod is amazing, and worth every penny. My permagrin is back - bigger than when I first got the car. Just writing this makes me want to go back out and drive it some more.
