I am in shock, they claim only 5.41 HP, that very well may be and honest number it is certinly within reason for an NA.

This K&N unit actually looks like a good item for the N/A Solstice. Also take note of a couple of other items from the dyno:
1. The intake air temperature for the K&N run was 3 degrees farenheit higher than when the stock intake dyno run was made.
2. The atomospheric pressure was slightly less for the K&N run than when the stock intake dyno run was made.
Both of the above items would tend to hinder the power that was produced by the K&N unit.
That 5.41 whp increase equates to roughly 6.5 bhp increase (using 83% drivetain efficiency) and I too think that these values are very believable value for a CAI.
Current Mods:
1. K&N Drop-in Panel Air Filter (until problems w/CAI's get resolved)
2. Solo-Performance Street Race exhaust
3. BSR Tune
4. GMPP CAI Kit Planned Future Mods:
1. High Efficiency FMIC
2. Improved IC Tubes
3. Upgraded Turbocharger Kit from Hahn Racecraft and BSR Stage II or III Tune to accommodate the modifications.
If this had been available when I got my GMPP one I would have definetely went with K&N. Second to none in quality IMO. Still waiting on oil filters to be available from them.

I think the oil filters are available, just looked up the 2006 NA on kandn.com. Looks like the HP-7000 is the one for us.
Update: I just noticed the 2007/2008 are not on that application guide. I guess I wasn't aware of a change between years. Maybe just an out of date application guide?

Hi Giz,
Don't know when Paul heard, but I suspect like me, he's on their "e-mail me as your new Solstice stuff hits the market" list and they just now e-mailed me about the typhoon and he's sharing the news with members.-bird

Thanks, I figured the announcement had just been made. My point was:
If they did the dyno back in October 2006, why are they just now announcing the product? I understand that developing a product takes time, but it would seem that was completed last October. TEN MONTHS just to bring it to market? From a well-established company like K&N?

Yeah but they may have kept it on a car for a while to test things like codes coming up. Remember it is a well-established company. There are reasons they are well established too. R&D Being one of them.
how do you like the sound of it.....
in my solstice.....also a 2006 ...with auto trans........i too had one....had it removed within hours of the install...could not stand the hone sound it made in my cars interior.God i just hated that cheap sound it made.
i did not feel any additional performance from it ...in fact...i think the car runs better with the stock air intake.
I wanted to know what you thought of your new K&N ???????
Thats awesome I have the Fujita intake and I am due for a new filter here. I know I can wash it ad re-oil it but not sure I trust myself with the oil. So I have been trying to find a K&N filter possibiliy dry if I can but will take oiled anyways. Any link to the cheapest place to pick up an K&N filter otherwise I just might hit kappasphere up again for a new filter.
