oil cooler question

i'm wondering if the oil cooler that was eliminated early on (2006) from the 2.4 might be worth lookin for...... for a boosted 2.4

was it from the gm parts bin - something easy to find and add

or if other aftermarket oilcoolers would be better / just as easy to fit & add ?

gm eliminated it for the NA - and i'm sure it wasn't necessary on the NA.....

....but how about a 2.4 with a turbo kit

- since the turbos are brutal on oil .... IS IT worth thinkin / askin about
i have no clue how efficient or the pros and cons - whether it would reduce oil temps enuff to be a benefit or would it just be another source for a failure and problems

ps
yall just excuse me if i jabber too much -

i really could care less about oil coolers - anything to think about something else just humor me -

my grandson just had a bad accident - 3rd day now - he's in a burn unit - reading the forum is my only escape - i used to read it non stop when the car had me stressed - i guess you know i'm stressin hard

i'm a lost ball in high grass - don't know what to do with myself -

we had such a good time last week @DDM
thats him havin fun with dave and randy- showin off his guns
prayers .... please
if anyone has burn advice - experience we could use....

its supposed to take 7-10 days to see if the burns transition ? better or worse or if he'll need skin grafts for his nose and ear .????? .i listened to the surgeon but what i comprehend ??..i think wait and see.... is where we are... controllin pain without morphine is the big goal rite now....and thats not workin yet.....
its just a horrible situation

I think all the 06's have the cooler, it is behind and on top the engine, You have to look between the back of the engine and the firewall

nope ... not all '06's ... none on mine and once I installed the center feed fuel rail .... it is much easier to get to the filter now ....

I agree with Z, 2.4 with turbo is hard on the oil..... I would like to install one also but really don't know all of the options....how large is required and best location ?

The "stock" oil cooler that was on some '06's cannot be retro-fitted without pulling the block and having it machined. It also requires changing the lower radiator hose

well that answers 1 part of my question- no sense looking for the discarded oil cooler

so an aftermarket oil cooler - worth thinking about ? or more trouble than its worth
or heres another one

i see larger oil pans in catalogs for some muscle cars and ??? not that i've seen one for us ? lol...
wonder about if there is a larger pan - i guess i'm asking if a larger pan - more volume seems like it would cool better with more oil ?? or just not get as hot
i doubt we have room for a bigger pan ? my brain is just wandering

maybe you'd effect oil pressure....... maybe not ... hows that work ? would the more volume compromise oil pressure
IF not
where's our bigger oil pans for our harder workin engines ? lol.. how hard can that be to develop and offer.....

the werks radiator - just guessin only gave us more volume and better coolin from the added volume
so my wacky logic thinks a bigger oil pan and more oil would work the same and an oil cooler even more protection - either one would help and both "mo betta"

i appreciate changing the oil often with a turbo is logical but if there is a mod for the engine oil not to get as hot ?? control the heat better - would that be better than changing to 10-40 ?
would an oil cooler make much difference -

heres another a silly question -how do our boosted cars effect oil pressure ? is there any difference is oil pressure with the bOOsted cars vs non modded NA.....
.... does the oil pressure change when the engine is boosted or is wot oil pressure wot for oil the same whether NA or boosted ??

The ones we have here have a small cooler on them, not sure though of the years they are on there. Take a look behind your oil filter, and look for a small oil/air cooler.
