Anyone in the HOT climates think about installing an aftermarket oil cooler with the turbo system to help keep things a little cooler?

For me it depends, right now we all seem to be on the path of a bigger radiator and side venting, and we are thinking these two mods will allow us to whale on the car without any issues in temperature again.
If you had some hard core evidence (of the empirical type) on how that would improve the thermals, then I might be in.

B&M has a nice selection of oil coolers, i got the 20766 cooler on my talon and it dropped the temps a lot compared to the stock one. Its size is 11"x8"x1.5" and was only 80 bucks, the steel braided lines were a bit more though.
Notice the additional air inlets on the GXP! That must do it. So, it's either buy a GXP nose piece - or get the larger radiator. Hoping the 'werks' radiator does the job!

Oil coolers really prolong the life of a turbo or SC. Living in Texas, summer temps really drive up oil temps. Granted, those devices are designed to run at normal temps, but running 20 degrees cooler obviously has a positive effect. Oil won't break down as fast.
On my Del Sol, I did a remote oil filter (ease access) plus oil cooler. The B&M cooler is installed in front of the radiator. On the block, I used an Eagle turbo oil feed adaptor. Niffty setup.

Its most likely an integrated air/water cooler, it uses coolant to cool/heat the oil.
The wheelwell placement was the only logical choice on my talon due to the size of the cooler, i could of gotten a smaller one and placed it up in front of the rad.
Are they 'car specific' or do you make your own mounting brackets? Bad enough having the 'masive' I/C in front of the radiator - I would have to mount to the side (somewhere)!

Aftermarket turbo setups are tricky. It never seems to end. Anyhow maybe a couple of Venting concerns can be looked at, considering the underhood of a N/A solstice might not be prepped for Turbo heats.
Oil coolers though, come in a WIDE variety of setups. We are very lucky to have enough room under the hood to allow ourselves the luxury of choice.
Check out FLUIDYNE, they have a nice selection. Think small though, we do have a 4cyl.
If you install a system, please look into installing also, an oil catch can. Not always needed but could never hurt.
The oil cooler will extend the life of the engine.
Good luck with your quest!

No they're not car specific, you gotta make some brackets and have specific lenght steel braided lines made at your local hydralic shop or order some.
You can reasonably mount an oil cooler anywhere you have outside air available.
Be it under a hood scoop or vent or downwards, vertically towards an area that the undercar airflow is open. (dunno if I worded that 100% clear)
anyhow, try a radiator shop, they could possibly mount one for you cheap.
