Surgery ongoing for about 30min. She's fully recovered. So this is highly recommended if you have a cool air induction. Tools needed: a marker, ruler, Carpet cutter, and a screw driver to remove the filter. The plastic is really soft and easy to manage. Now I had great midrange, but now it can't get any better and it was really simple. The sound of the induction is really low and strong. Sound really nice. Check out the before and after pics.

Looks like it works.
Plan on doing the same to mine when my aftermarket intake arrives.

Though, wondering about the reduced air flow to the radiator. Time will tell this summer. Worse case, I can push it back where it was and use black duct tape to hold it together.

Speaking about black duct tape, what about closing the space on the side with a cut triangle piece of Tupperware taped in place? It would create a higher pressure area at the filter. Although that piece of tubing would be a minor problem.

Also, just curious. What do you think that welded aluminum flange with two mounting holes just before the air cleaner are for??

He cut an area of the plastic so the air coming from the plastic baffle will exit through the hole he cut out from the plastic baffle.
jt72 I think if the pictures were more of the whole area people would understand what you did, I think.

DreamerDave, those are the mounting brackets for the splash hood. Here is the filter in the standard configuration on my Sol.

Has anyone tried to trim down the styrofoam bumper mount that can be seen through the grilles to create a "ram air" effect on an aftermarket cone filter? I still have the OEM intake on my car, so I can't see what lies beneath the plastic baffles. If this is possible, it would prevent tampering with the cold air cooling the radiator.

if you hole saw a hole through the aluminum bumper directly on front of the factory air in let you can achieve the ram air effect on the factory airbox.

Can any substantiate any REAL gains from all of this? I know ram air works in some other cars, I'm talking about the Sol.

Thanks, Steak

I've been monitoring the temp daily, it's been the same. Normal.

It's just the alteration of the color to make my engine look similar to the concept, just tryin to be more attractive. Can of silver color match paint from an auto store.
