Sooner the better. Looks like prices are going to be going up because of the cost of materials and so on. Not only Solo either, everything. Best order it now and install when you have the time

If you already have a header, and an aftermarket exhaust system, the higher flowing catalytic converter will ABSOLUTELY 100% make your car louder. It's a definite noticeable difference. I would say at LEAST 15-20% louder.

That said, if you're driving casually... just bumming around, it's noticeable, but it's not obnoxious. If you start hot rodding around though, it gets extremely loud. You have to like it.

I love driving the Solstice with all the stuff I've got on it (basically the same). It's loud, but my commute is only like 4-5 miles away. On the weekends, or when I'm taking my wife to dinner or somewhere else, and I want a nice, calm, relaxing ride... I usually take the Crown Victoria LX. I barely hear the motor (unless I floor it), and it's comfortable and roomy.

If the Solstice is your only car, really consider what you want to do with it. As I get older, I find myself not enjoying as much a loud small sports car (I've been driving loud small 2 seaters since high school). Sometimes the power gain (which is substantial) can overpower the sense of logic. Hahah....

I like it though...

Thanks for the info. That was my concern. I really wish I knew someone close by with my set or similar with the cat to get a in person perspective. I am on the fence at the moment be leaning towards it.

Well, it IS loud, and it would be tough if I had to live with this car as my only vehicle. At times I do find it getting on my nerves. I mean, it's not like a riced out Honda, but if you're just "not in the mood" it can be kind of a pain in the ass. YOu basicaly have to drive really really conservatively to keep it quiet.

75% of the noise issues you're having are related to the cold air intake though. When you do all this work to the exhaust, it's exacerbated by the CAI you've got. If you replace the front of your CAI with a hollowed out version of your stock air box, it would probably be much quieter. You could also put your stock exhaust back and go with the high-flow catalytic converter and still see a noticeable improvement. (it would be quieter too)

What is the flow rate of the solo cat compared to stock? I am looking at the header and exhaust, so how much extra power becomes available by switching out the cat on an N/A?
