What are the risks of installing a supercharger and has anyone had any trouble or problems with it?

I'm four months with mine with only one real issue (threw a belt because _I_ did not check the tension on it before beating on the car hard one afternoon). This was NOT a S/C issue per se, but my lack of experience/attentiveness.

The other "problems" I have are:

1) My right foot seems to be heavier now, and I burn through gasoline and tires.
2) My wife has taken to shaking her head at me when I leave stoplights.

Have you considered doing a search ?

Some of the first installations had issues with engine codes, primarily related, if I recall correctly, with MAF sensors. Since then, nothing that I have noticed.

I've had mine since Sept '07. Stage I for about 3k or so then stage II the following spring. About 15k total. Problems have been minor. Couple of misc codes with Stage I. I was getting an occasional lean code with stage II, but never while in boost. Randy custom tuned mine at the NY mod meet in the beginning of Jan this year. No codes since. Couple people have had belt issues. I'm not one them . I think it's important to have some way to read and clear codes. Without knowing what they are and being able to clear them I think it could be very frustrating. Some guys have run code free, but for me having the DashHawk has been a great investment. Other than that, the setup has been very solid. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again .

Question: What happens when you break or throw the belt to the SC?

Are you dead in the water 'till it's re-installed? Or will it somehow sift thru N/A?

NO, with the new belt and pulley system DDM has for the S/C kits the S/C belt is on its own drive. If you do brake or throw a belt you can still drive the car as it was before the S/C. I have just updated my kit and I like the new sysytem, But then I never had any problems with the old system...Seal9

Somebody said the new pulley system increases boost. Did you experience this? If so, did you have to re-tune the ECM?

Even with the old system, I was able to limp home to replace the belt. The alternator was not working in the serpentine belt's absence, but I was only about 3 miles from the house.

As Seal9 stated, the latest version isolates the S/C from the main belt system. Now, should you lose the S/C belt, which is as likely now as losing any belt would be (i.e., nil if replaced periodically ), your car simply reverts to "normal" N/A status and home you go to replace it (or in my case, off you go to the side of the road to replace it, as I carry spares ).

Bottom line: the DDM S/C system is stable, reliable, and WAY FUN! Come on in, the water is fine!

Jack,

No ECM tune is required with this upgrade.
