Too bad you're not closer, I love helping people solve problems like this, the learning curve & challenge is what keeps me going in this industry.

Hope you have your ride back up & running soon.

All of the new E-Series such as the E67 used in the solstice/sky and other vehicles pass GM internal spec "GM9109P, Immunity To Electrostatic Discharge" These things are tanks now, hence the reason they are no longer shipped to the dealer in ESD bags but in regular cardboard boxes with some styrofoam packing. This isnt to say ESD still isnt a factor but in the thousands we've done we've yet to see one die from ESD (at least of the new series controllers that is!)

Thanks for the the info, will keep it in mind, just trying to help. As I said unlikely but possible, not trying to push the point.

Could you direct me to any information regarding GM9109P ? Pm it to me if you have a moment.

What have you experienced with ECM's having these symptoms ? Replacement w/stock reflash & modify from there (if requested) has been my only resolution thus far, but would really appreciate an alternate solution. Please understand that I work on a much smaller scale than Vector does (a few hundred vs thousands) & don't have the same resources available.

Thanks for your help. Let us know what happened in this case.

Just heard from Vector.

My ECM is dead...perhaps a shipping mishap.

Chris is supplying me with a replacement...YEA Vector!!

(What a relief to know I didn't screw things up...the electronic type of brains scares me).

Well, that's good news indeed. Glad you'll be back on the road soon, but I'm sure it was a pain to be deprived of your Solstice for so many days. Just curious, do you want to mention why you went back to stock ECM?

Also, does anyone know which fuse to pull to deprive the ECM of battery power? This would be a very efficient manner of cutting power when removing and replacing the ECM. Thanks.

I needed to clear my ECM of Vector's "lock" so it can be flashed for the DDM Supercharger.

Why look for fuses when a battery disconnect is "for sure"?

My problem now is that the new ECM requires a re-learn for Crank and Security. I don't own a scan tool (and, really, don't want to), and my dealer is 45 mins. away. I guess fees for a flat-bed tow and a dealer re-learn are unavoidable.

The security learn can be done without a scan tool...then you can drive it to the dealer

In order to initiate the relearn process:

1. Insert a master key (black head) into the ignition switch.
2. Turn to the "On" position without starting the engine. The security light should illuminate and stay on.
3. Wait approximately 10 minutes or until the security light turns off.
4. Turn off the ignition switch and wait 5 seconds.
5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 two more times with the same key.
6. Turn the ignition off. The vehicle will now learn the key transponder information on the next start cycle.
7. Start the vehicle. If vehicle starts and runs normally, and security light is off, the relearn is complete.

If additional keys are to be relearned:

8. Turn the vehicle off.
9. Insert the next key to be learned and turn the ignition switch to the "On" position within 10 seconds of removing the previously used key.
10. Wait for the security light to turn off. It should happen quickly. You may not even notice the light come on, because it will learn the key transponder immediately.
11. Repeat steps 8 through 10 for any additional keys.

The car is supposed to operate without a crank relearn, just not at peak performance. Security relearn can be done following the procedure posted someplace on the Forum. I'm sure Small Dealer could point you in the right direction.

[EDIT NOTE: Others already posted about the security relearn before I completed my post.]

I don't have the proper tool to disconnect the negative battery cable, it would be so much easier pulling the ECM fuse.

A 10mm socket and something a little bigger than a mouse sh*t will do it.

Actually, I'm about the only Solstice in my area, but if anyone who has one is coming through, I'd be a most appreciative host.

Sounds like you need to sponsor a run in your area, and make sure someone who is coming has a DashHawk.
