Received my re-flashed (back to stock) ECM from Vector today and installed it in my car.

Turned the key and the car "lights up" but won't crank.

Tried to call Chris, but he doesn't answer his phone...sent email also.

While I'm waiting, does anyone have any ideas?

I beleive you have to do a crank re-learn....you can do a search for this subject...

Per Solstice Service Manual page 10-86:

If the ECM is replaced a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn on page 6-553.

Page 6-553 is devoted to how to perform the learn.
It requires a scan tool, to see if the P0315 was successful.

Dealer does it, unless you have a good scan tool and the procedure.

One question could be how you reflashed it back to stock as we know that Chris locks what he does on the ECM. Another is that besides the crank re-learn there could also be a security learn.

Wouldn't you think Vector would do this? When they did my original re-tune a crank re-learn was not necessary.

You shouldn't need a crank re-learn from my understanding. Possibly a security re-learn. Not sure the procedure, but I'm sure a little searching should come up with it.

We were out to lunch in meetings most of the afternoon so far, you probably just have to do the security learn. I believe that info was included on the sheet with the unit when it was returned.

I've tried the security re-learn...no help. The security light stays lit...the car won't crank.

BTW, there was no instruction sheet included w/the ECM.

I'm waiting for Vector to suggest another course of action.

Well, here it is 6 PM, CST and no word from Vector since 2PM.

My car still won't crank, won't take a security re-learn and the fuel pump module in the fuse box clicks away continuously when the key is on "ON".

I hope tomorrow is a better day...Vector, are you out there?

Yes, it was. Vector added their tune and it ran fine from the day I got it back...no re-learn anything.

I might add, I marked the ECM so I'd know if I got the same one back.

Well, I tried what you said, Seal9, no help.

The connectors look fine, click into place and lock up.

Still won't crank, failed third attempt at security re-learn, fuel pump relay clicks away...and now I noticed that my fuel gauge, which has always been right-on, has quit.

I'm coming to the opinion that Vector did a lot more to my ECM than restore its stock program.

Have run into this with other GM ECM's, only 1 Bosch-duramax. The only fix was ECM replacement. Have tried to reflash problem ECM's but to no avail. Root cause was almost always external electrical fault (just boosted from or to another vehicle, faulty charging system, shortcuting repair/replacement procedures, etc..) What procedure did you use to reduce the chance of ESD (electrostatic discharge) during ecm removal & replacement-possible cause.

Depending on what was changed during a reflash a security relearn may or may not be needed, engine will crank & fire up but stall-cuts injectors. As a matter of practice I always do a c
