The new Camaro, when it comes out will have a solid axle. The original platform was cancelled because it proved to not be able to do all that G.M. thought it should do and it was way too expensive to use in Chevys. It is getting the solid axle because they want it to compete in price with the Mustang, and an irs would push the price too high. G.M. is keeping silent on the posibility of a new Camaro, but Ford is on track to sell 192,000 Mustangs this year. It is 1964 all over again and Ford has a monopoly on one of the hottest selling classes of car around. Chrysler is scrambling to make a two door short wheelbase version of the Charger to be called the Dodge Challenger to compete with Ford. Unfortunately, because G.M. has a mind set that if they can't sell a particular car there is no market for it until Ford comes along and clobbers them, they don't have time to get anything to market to compete until 2008 or maybe even 2009.
