I want to break all the rules. I want to put an VQ56( for those who don't know that is the g35 motor). Tell me is this an wast of time or an very good Idea..

If you have the $$ (lots of it) and the patience... I wouldn't do it, but I'm not the one that has to make the decision.
If you're thinking about doing it yourself, you had better know what you're doing. It's going to be a challenge for sure. I'd also reccommend that you build a good relationship with a machine shop or three right now... maybe a mechanical engineer, too.
If you're planning to pay someone to do it, shop around and don't be surprised if you're quoted more than it would cost you to buy an entire G35 new. It's going to take a lot of time and money to do it right.
If you go through with it, definitely keep us posted here in the forum. You'll have a "one of a kind" at the end of it all for sure!
My dream swap would be a boosted direct injected inline 6 (drooling after BMW's latest offering) - but you're not far off. i doubt anyone has looked into any of the VQs as a project. but good luck.
It's gonna be way too wide being a DOHC engine, seeing how the cam-in-block LSx motors are a tight fit.
On top of that, you probably wouldn't be doing it yourself, seeing how you don't even know the proper designation for the motor you intend to use. The VQ56 is a V8 from the Titan, Armada and Pathfinder. The VQ35 and 37 are the V-6 from the G35 (3.5L) and G37 (3.7L.)
It'll cost you more than just sending the car to Mallett to put a LS2 in, and you'll end up with a slower car with less potential for more power.
Also, being DOHC, I really doubt that the VQ series will have any sort of weight advantage over a LSx. If you really want a V6, one of the 60* cam-in-block GM V6 motors are probably a better choice (supercharged Gran Prix GTP/ G6 GXP if you want something that moves.)
I wonder if this will ever happen. Look at posters name and this is his first post ever. Sounds like b.s. to me. I'd love to be proven wrong and see it happen though. On someone else's dime.
Waste of time really...due to so many different engine options. Put an LS2 in it and call it a day.

I'm an technician at an Infiniti dealer. So will be doing the work myself just to let you know. Also I have an vq56 and vq35 longblock ready for the swap. The VQ's motors have way more top end horsepower then the LS motors. An if you don't beleave me I will see you on the track!!!!!!
I will have an 10 sec. car LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

I've always thought a straight six was the best light roadster engine, with it's natural balance. Too bad they are so rare these days. Guess I'll have to get around to that TR-6 project I've been wanting to do for 15 years...

If i had the pockets That first line gets me everytime.... 1400 rpms BMW North America
I heard rumors about a caddy DI inline 6 - i don't have the money for any sort of swap these days though, i'll stick to the turbo 2.4 for now (especially with the talk about being able to swap the GXP injection and whatnot).
OP: Good luck with your swap.. nissan can put together some pretty cool engins.

Top end doesn't mean anything if your cylinder heads don't leave room for the front suspension.

Isn't that V6 a 60* V like the GM 3.6 DOHC? If so, there will be room. I would just stay with the GM 3.6 V6 and not have to worry about the electrical conversions from the Nissan.

I will own a V6 Kappa even if GM does not offer one as an engine upgrade. I have made my mind up, I want the Cadillac CTS 3.6L V6 with a 6 Speed manual tranny. And I will do the conversion my self if I have too :)
