Which clutch would you replace OEM with..

My clutch is slipping and on it's way out and I have a few questions. First let me give you some info: 2006 N/A Hahn Stage III, 11,500 mi.
1. Has anyone had theirs replaced under warranty? (I know I have an aftermarket turbo install but just wondering) If so what were the circumstances?
2. What aftermarket clutch would you recommend?
3. If so have you had it installed and what are your comments about it?
4. Have you experienced harmonic vibration?
5. How can harmonic vibration be eliminated with an aftermarket clutch?
6. What should install approximately run?
7. I understand replacing the flywheel is the cause of the harmonic vibration?
8. If harmonic vibration can not be totally be eliminated should I just replace with stock clutch?
9. I really don't want to deal with harmonic vibration so what do you suggest?

Please excuse the quiz type format but I figured it would be best for you to respond to so put on your thinking caps and sharpen your #2 pencils and remember, No Cheating.

OK, I'll make this an open book quiz so come on and start answering some questions with your knowledge and experience.

All I can contribute is that I have a Spec stage II+ with billet flywheel and the thing produces a vibration in the mid-3k rev range. I'm going to replace the stock flywheel to see if that's the issue.

Yeah Carl, I know you have that set up, I spoke with Dave at DDM today and he told me about your harmonic vibrations. He told me about the Exedy stage 2 and Exedy flywheel which I am considering. That is the one Randy has in his car now and as Dave explained on a scale of 0-100 with 100 being Spec stage II for vibrations Exedy is 20.

You can't beat a stock GM clutch set up, the only thing I know of that is close is a Hayes, those trick clutches won't last on the street.

Stock clutches, ar made to be slipped when pulling out, trick clutches are not made to be slipped for street use.

But you cam pay alot of money, and find out for yourself, like I did a long time ago.

FOR SALE:

Spec stage 2+ and Fidanza billet flywheel. (Wife didn't like the harmonics, I got used to it).

This clutch is stiffer than stock and has a short release travel.

Originally paid around $900 for the combo - make an offer!

Well, I'm going back tom the stock clutch and flywheel myself. I'm not going to live with that awful vibration any more. So my recommendation is the stock clutch.

Has any one look at any other GM made car that the clutch would be comparable to ours but is use on a higher HP car.
Maybe the Hummer or Colorado... Saab....

I would contact Bill Hahn,

My car has a stage IV clutch with the stock flywheel and I don't seem to have any harmonic vibration to speak of.

I am sure bill could fill you in on the setup.

Tony

Well the Pontiac dealer recommended that I not go with the stock clutch as it is not made to handle the added torque of the stage III turbo. It would not be long before I would need a new one again. So today I ordered the Exedy Stage 2 clutch and light weight fly wheel from DDMWorks. Dave said this is the one randy has on his car and is happy with it. Basically he said that where the Spec stage 2 is 100 on the harmonic scale, Exedy stage 2 and light weight flywheel is a 20. He said barely noticeable. I will let you know how it works out.

I'll be interested to see how you like the Exedy stage II. I know I'm going to need more clutch than stock

I sure hope it works out for you Ivan. You have a lot of power going to the wheels in that car and you are reckless when driving LOL. You have no fear.

Thanks Dave @ DDMWorks

My new clutch is installed and boy what a difference. No more slipping just grab, grab, and more grab. Thanks to Dave at DDMWorks for all your help in the selection of the Exedy Stage 2 Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel. The transfer of HP to the wheel feels more direct. It feels like a new car as I now have to get used to it. I dropped it of to my mechanic yesterday morning and I picked it up after work. I drove it to work 59.6 mi. today just to give it a try and I can't wait for the ride back home. Thanks Dave for your patience in explaining everything to me.
