Hey solscuba did you have to get new tires after that burnout?

WOW, I do have to admit that that is a NICE vidio. Props to you for such a good smoke show.
That being said, the only "weak part" is the sound. The exhaust note needs to be worked on. It dont do anything for me. BUT the work at the wheels is realy all that counts.

Trust me, my exhaust is louder than you know. Probably one of the loudest on the forum...

Well here is the beast...

YouTube - V-8 Solstice 7997

Oh and if anyone knows of anymore V8 solstice videos running hard don't hesitate to link them on this thread.
We weren't really trying to do smokey burnouts that day, we were trying to see if we could break the transmission or the diff. So we were trying to get as much traction as we could. Had about 100 lbs. of sand bags in the trunk. A couple of the runs were 6K clutch dumps the rest were at about 4500.

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted here just been real busy with installing V-8's in Fieros for the last year or so.

I'll be putting an LS3 in the Sol. in the next few weeks. I'll try to do the smoke show on this engine before I take it out.

Thanks

Archie

Hello Archie, Nice to see you here again. Can you explain what advantages the LS3 has over the LS2 weight,hp. etc. And I will send over some fenders to you soon. Thanks Norm norm's fiberglass home page

If you're sending out fenders for just that information, let me provide it!

LS2 400HP. LS3 430HP.

Customer dynos of stock LS2 Corvettes versus stock LS3 corvettes indicate that the actual power difference is greater.

The LS3 is 6.2L instead of 6.0L. The mass is basically the same.

Thanks, but no thanks, Norm.

No offense, but I'm not a fan of the look. However, I would be interested in a set of fiberglass fenders that match the stock ones and accept the Pontiac emblems. (I don't even really want any vents.) My understanding is your part saves weight versus the stock piece, but I don't want a huge vent on the side of the engine bay.

Do you have any plans for an exact stock replacement part in the future?

Hi Norm, I've just been so busy on the Fiero swaps that I haven't had time for anything for about 6 or 8 months now.

We had record snowfall for this area this last Winter & I only got the Sol out a couple of times during the Winter.

Sunday I drove the Sol for the 1st time this year with the top down. So the first thing I did was smash the Front Air Dam on a parking curb.

So I took it off the car for repairs this week.

I'm going to be putting an LS3 in the Sol in a few weeks. Externally the LS1, LS2 & LS3 are just about identical. As pointed out already each one is a bit more power than the last.

It's pretty hard to find a new crate LS1 anymore because they are out of production now. The LS2 was pretty much the engine to go with until about 3 months ago when the prices of LS3 Crate engines dropped down to just a few hundred $$$ more than an LS2.

The LS376 is out now too, It's the same as an LS3 but with the GM Hot Cam kit. That takes it to 480hp.

Anyway staying kinda busy, the Sol has been like kinda a hobby for more than a year now. I'm starting to get more interested now in my Sol because of the better weather & the upcoming switch to an LS3.

I'm sure I'm gonna need the fender vents when I get the LS3 in there.

Have you done anything with the hood or fender flares?

Right now I have 3 LS Fiero swaps in process. An LS7 in the foreground the LS3 in the rear left & the LS376 rear right.

Archie,

We have all missed you. Reading these post about V8 swaps makes me want to dump money into it so I don't hate it anymore. God knows with the unusal driveline noises that it makes, I walk past the SOL and jump in my 03 sierra 4x4 to drive. Keep us posted on the swap please.

Thanks

Jay

Jay, you do realize that Archie hasn't been on this board in about 1 1/2 months and that the message you replied to is more than 4 months old?

Just checking!

Yeah, I know. I sometimes take time away too. Also I haven't been in the V8 section much either, so I have tried to catch up on some of the threads. But I am interested in the LS3 swap from him as well.

Jay
