Well... I have decided to take my car to them as well once I get mine. I plan on calling today. TerpFan....is there anyone there you would reccomend I talk to/deal with.
You can call them directly or I can broker a deal for a slight discount ($500 off). Your choice.
Guess I must have missed something somewhere. Did you sell it to Mallet or what. Seems like alot of waiting and getting a 1k car just to get rid of it. Are you getting a Sky? Are you gonna to do the same with it. Not being nosey just trying to understand.
I gave the car up to help get the car to SEMA showing in time. Yes, giving up a first 1000 car was tough, but Mallett has been giving me many benefits since. I'm scheduled to get the first Sky conversion when they hit the streets.
This may have been discussed somewhere else already and I haven't done a search yet....
Is there anyone out there that can do a basic swap with say, the LS1 motor?
I was looking around the net to see if anyone had some comprehensive plans that were for doing the motor swap and all the goodies that came with it for the shadetree guy that had the skills and time but didn't want to aimlessly cut into his new toy.
It wouldn't be a Mallett by any stretch of the imagination but it wouldn't be a 4-banger either.

I suggest you do a search. I had your answer, but I don't feel it's appropriate to make such posts in this thread. If you can't find it in search, PM me.

SkyCaptain,
I know you are going to do the 3.8V6 FI, but I am still curious as to whether or not the Vortec 4200 I6 will fit in the Solstice. I found a use one on e-bay and the owner send me the measurements, 31.5 long 25 wide and 28.5 High, all parts attached. Do you think based on this measurements it would fit in the Solstice?.

It's just, on most other car forums , 1/4 mile stats without scanned slips are frowned upon. At least in the tech section. For this exact reason. Everybody and their brother has a question, accusation, disclaimer or big-fish story add. Scanned slips tell all.
(not really all but at least it satisfies most people.)

I personally am considering taking advantage of this conversion on my Solstice that is enroute and I really need more info. What are the true times, and I want pictures of everything.
Yeh! that's what we need, 700HP in a 3,000LB car. Now if we could make great big fat fenders and cut a huge hole in the nose for the oil cooler below the grill we take out to fit the big oversized radiater, for the needed extra cooling for those horses, add a large chrome roll bar we could come up with something that looks a lot like a Cobra. Nice going guys. Thanks but I think I prefer Bob's original Solstice. As I remember my AC Bristol was more fun to drive than the 289 Cobra, and the 427 Cobra isn't even a sports car. It is a pure street rod in every sense of the word. If you want a dragster why not buy a GT Mustang? It would be a lot cheaper.

Ponder that awhile.
After driving a few 700 horsepower 3,200 pound vehicles I would definetly recommend the experience for others. Imagine a five second pull from 90 to 150MPH, talk about insanity!

It's okay to want more power than the chassis was designed to handle. That's the American way! And you can build a "Solbra" for less than half of what people have tied up in their replica Cobras with the side-oilers. Some of those go for over 100k and those are just kits. I think with all the electronics today, that the V8 conversions may be best left to the professionals, however as I just said, popping a large smallblock in place of teh Ecotec IS the American way. Now for pure power, start with a Chevy 502, eliminate two wheels, replace steering wheel with handlebar scrap the body and any frills and a Boss Hoss might be the way to go fastest. http://www.bosshoss.com/view_bike.as...25750966.25966

Saw one of those in person last May. It was huge, but it sure sounded nice as it pulled out of the gas station/rest stop.

Not to split hairs but, Chevy doesn't make engines anymore. They haven't for a real long time. If it's a new engine design, such as the LSx, then it's really a GM Power Train engine. (it's only loosely based on the SBc anyway, but then, so were all division's engines, so that's hardly an argument for it)
But why stop with a 502? Why not the ZZ572?
