   manual tranny quanity

ok, so the manual and everything else is see state you use 4.6 pints of 75w90... OR 2.3 qrts....

should it come out the fill hole??? OR shold you asume you mesure it perfect and that is enough...

OR should you let it overflow ??

the fill hole is so low on the tranny that I would assume it would be perfect and safe to let it overflow and then stop dripping...

Just worried I didn't get the .3 quarts part right....

The current versions of the Service Manual and Owner's Manuals for 2006, show the complete drain fluid capacity of the manual transmission as 2.75 Qts.

Should fill to just below the hole, as in the diagram attached.

Torque both the drain and fill plugs to 37 N·m (27 lb ft).

Both washers are required to be replaced when the drain/fill plugs are removed.

I went to the dealership and the parts guy said the washers were $40 a piece. Do you think that is right Small dealer or is something wrong. I am wondering if the recommendation is based on the idea that the fluid should never be changed so it is it must have 100k< miles. Therefore at that time the new washers would be needed.

I replaced the fluid three times without replacing the washers. I wanted a synthetic and tried royal purple and the tranny whined and really carried on. I noticed that the RP had some of the limited slip goo in it, so maybe it was too slick. I filtered the original and put it back in until I picked something else up. I enventually settled on mobil 75-90 synthetic. All I did with the washers was apply a little goop around them, they never did leak. BTW, the hard shifting to second did not go away with the mobil. Only satisfaction I got was new, clean synthetic after 13k miles.

Thanks for that, i have a notchy shift into 3 that I am hoping it will fix.

Shabby, I don't have many options that is the only one I can get to without taking time off of work. I looked at his diagram on the screen and we could not figure it out, but I am thinking it was the pan gasket or something else. Have you changed your fluid and did you have any comments or tips?

Guess instead of my 401k, should have invested in transmission plug washers.

The $38.91 price in the GM system for the washers is a little high. Since it is in the GM System, all dealerships will be using it.

Might want to give it some time to be checked out and adjusted back to a proper level. May have to put off the fluid change.

While others have reported not replacing them, the service manual states they are required.

Will keep an eye on the pricing and try to notify if it changes. Could always ask your dealership to work backward through the system, if they are up for it, to see about it.
