I am having problems installing my Quaife LSD in my car. Does anyone know of someone who has installed one and is using one in their car now? Mine is 125 thousandths small and Quaife is telling me to make a shim. I just want to know if others who have a Quaife installed made a shim or if theirs fit correctly. please help, this is holding up my car from being done. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

What part of the Quaife is too small?

shims are available at the dealer usually. or a transmission repair shop. every diff install i've ever seen required shimming.
You are correct about shimming. The exact measurement was 152 thousandths. It is not normal to shim that much. It is normal to shim a few thousandths. However much you shim, is how much more the bearing hangs off the LSD assembly. Also, when the gap gets that large, it's no longer a shim, it's a spacer.
Currently, we are measuring the Cadillac STS-V rear end. Today, we are dis-assembling the actual Solstice rear gears so we cam measure them up (removing bearings). I'll post later as soon as I have all the info. As of right now, it will not work. If it does measure up ok with the Solstice rear end, then there is a difference between the Cadillac and the Solstice.
I am also wondering if there were any changes between the different year Solstice diffs inside. There is no difference between the housings at all. Currently they both measure up the same. My Sol is a 2006, the Cadillac rear end came from, I believe, an 07.
Here is the update. After many conversations with Quaife USA, we have found a solution. they sent me a different bearing for inside the housing to take up the difference. We installed the bearing today, shimmed it and it is all together and updated with the new seal. So, in the end it worked out. on another note, the Cadillac and Solstice rear ends are the same. My specs, are, 323 Cadillac STSV rear end, STSV housing, Solstice brace with a Quaife LSD installed. After this whole mess, I am a rear end pro LOL.

Great job, but I won't comment on your last statement
How was the install on this unit?? I assume you need to know what your doing to do it right. My current diff is not an LSD so I'm interested in going this route before I get crazy with the Stage II S/C.......

I would only recommend you have a rear diff shop perform this work. It can be done yourself, but you really need to know what you are doing.
Can you share what the Quaife improved over OEM one?
For example, I have a lot vibration noise under hard WOT starting in low RPM, the more reading I do the more I think the diff is moving too much due to stage 2 increased torque, some people have done the harder diff bushing and some have done the lattest DDM diff brace upgrade, I would be currious to know if the Quaife brought any improvement to noise issues (if you had any to start with??). Maybe the Quaife has stronger gears and better supported bearing and that could takes care of most of the noise issue I have???
Thanks for sharing

The Quaiffe does not come with the ring and pinion, just the LSD part. It is just a better quality and stronger unit compared to stock. I did the LSD and changed out the diff bushing. I can't tell you the difference it made as I still have not driven my car, probably another week or so. My diff was making a ton of noise, thats why we took it apart. Upon inspection, we found 1/2 of the diff fluid gone and everything just ruined. Therefore, I did the Caddy diff and the new LSD.
