It's my second post on Solsticeforum.com, and I'm excited. We (my father and I) sent in our Solstice V8 order last Thursday before Christmas. Chuck should be picking the car up from the dealer by Thursday. We're getting the "Loaded Package," black on black, just like the one sent to SEMA that's on his website. I found out about the car from the Autoweek article I got a week and a half ago. After showing it to my father, he stated he had to have it. So, he's getting number six. Hopefully he'll let me drive it....
I called Natalie Neff at Autoweek and she had nothing but praises. She did only have a few hours of drive time, in the cold, and wrote the article quickly. So, I can't wait till the full road test comes out in Car & Driver next week.
I'll keep everyone updated on the progress if anyone's interested. It's should be the perfect "sleeper"...
Here's a pic of the car at the dealer, getting ready to be picked up by Chuck Mallett...

I wish I had the guts to pull the trigger on one. Congratulations on getting a start on what will be one of the most desireable cars America ever produced.
I would be very very tempted if I could trust myself with that much power in such a light car. I really think I would crash it eventually while testing its limits. The GXP will be a big enough handful for me to handle.
But I can't help but drool. The Cobra has been an icon for so long and this car isn't too far off that benchmark. I'll buy the 1st round for any Mallet owners I meet.

I can "most likely" assure you, the car won't be pushed hard unless it's on a track. But, knowing you have the power under you when leaving an off-ramp is good to know. What makes it so appealing is that most people will think it's a regular Solstice with bigger wheels and an awesome exhaust note. It won't attract the eyes that your Porsche 911 Turbo's to Corvette Z06's will.
I will be posting delivery pics, videos, the whole nine yards... Just have to wait 4 weeks...

No, but it will attract thr ears! The ultimate sleeper until you give it a little throttle and the motor roars. Nobody is going to mistake that powerplant for a catback and CAI.

Thats so true! So its not really a sleeper unless the car is turned off.

You mentioned larger tires, so you most be adding some other options, I thought for the 18K Mallett uses the same tires, transmission and Differential. Could you tell us what is going to be the package for your car if you do not mind?.
Thanks

We just upgraded to the 3.73 diff. from the stock 3.91. I've got some knowledge of what differences we'll experience, but what are the main advantages of having a 3.73 compared to 3.91?

The one major advantage is you will be able to launch the car in 1st gear without smoking the tires
One item that keeps coming up from people who drive it says that first gear is way to short for the motor. I'm thinking maybe another drop down to 3.42 gears would even be better for overall drive ablity. Just be careful on the 1st gear launches, don't want you using the Mallett warranty for repairs.
So, this will lower 0-60 times. Will is quicken the quarter mile, or decrease?
It all depends on traction - it should be slightly easier to get traction with the 3.73's over the 3.91's on street tires. With a good sticky tire though, the lower the rear gear (higher numerically) the lower your ET. On m
