Transmission Fuild Capacity

I know the capacity of the manual trans is 2.75 qts, what would happen if i decided to put 3 or 4 qts in? Would the gears slip?

Hi Goofyboy65
As with most components that have a maximum fluid capacity, substantially overfilling can cause seals to fail culminating in potential failure of the part due to lack of lubrication/cooling by said fluid. Fluid expands as it gets hot, which means there has to be space in the component for that fluid expansion to take place...if you over fill, you have less space for said fluid expansion, which puts undue stress on the seals, causing seal failure over time.

Also, as Randy@ddmworks posted in your other thread on trouble with transmission fluid change, the filler location is on the side of the transmission.

It would be very hard to overfill the transmission by the up to almost 50% you are asking about.
