Hi eveyone Im a little new in this forum but im glad to be part of this. i just want to tell you that im installing a TURBO GARRETT T3/T4 Hybrid A/R .60 TRIM 55 in my sols. I almost have all the turbo parts that i'll need. ( Manifold, CAI, blow off, FMU, Waste gate, oil lines, gaskets, intercooler, etc) Im own of a 2.4L 2006, my question is, how much PSI of boost does my engine will support ? Somebody told me that the turbo that i got, is too mucho Big for my car, and may be it will run over the 4,000 RPM at least. Do you think that i have to upgrade the pistons or take down the compression ? What do you recommend me ? THanks you!

The engine has been tested by others to about 13psi with the stock internals.

You wont need to run too much PSI. Just by a decent turbo and tune the car right. I made 311.8whp on a gt2876R turbo from garret. The housing a bit different from all the other turbos. But it got the job done on my car.

At how many PSI are you running? Is my Turbo bigger than yours ?

fairly sure i have the t3/t4 too ---- cept mine is trim 50.??.- someone correct me if i'm wrong....compression has the fancy ball bearing -mo betta version.........i think faster spoolin - longer lasting is my idea of what makes his better tho i don't know if its bigger too
i believe ours is known as the no frills pump king.....(. not pumpkin but best on pump gas ???)
..1st time i heard pumpkin and was NOT impressed......yep deaf duhhm and blonde

..and tho my boost was said to be @5-7 the gauge shoots straight to 10.......i think thats the edge of safety...for me anyway !.......they say 13 or so -on stock internals
i don't wanna be the one to find out !!.......its kinda scary enuff to be told the internal waste gate or bov was supposed to be set at 5 and creep to 7.......then find out by gauge i'm going to 10 ???..

..if i ever get this finished i'd like it to last as least as long as it took to build !!...j/k

if you don't mind and since you stated TRIM #... can i ask whats the trim part of the equation all about.....??........i know mine # anyway but what it means is a mystery

good luck with your project.....the more the merrier !.
..the more applications the less mystery....

WELCOME to the GROUP....
..keep us posted of your progress......

smaller trim # for smaller displacement engines ( unless internals )
basically the higher the a/r the higher the rpm spooling-.. smaller a/r spools faster and tops out sooner ?....

well... there is long time ago that i posted the last msg... i am buying the turbo parts for separate. i actually have .
1.- Turbo manifold.
2.- FMU 12:1
3.- boost gauge Autometer Cobalt
4.- A/F ratio gauge Autometer Cobalt
5.- Turbo Garrett t3/t4 hybrid.
6.- CAI
7.- TurboXS BOV type H
8.- Intercooler piping Kit 2.5 "
9.- getting the intercooler, i cant decide wich model to get.

i think, Before July, i almost have done the project. Right now, my car is in the Service Maintenance on Pontiac Dealer beacuse there is a problem with the acceleration response, we dont know what exactly is this, they are making so many tests to find the problem, my car has been there 2 weeks, and keep there ..... if anybody can help me with this probem, it will be fine.

NOTE: right now my car just has installed a fujita CAI. it has been works properly from 5 months ago, but now the car make a big loug sound and the RPM goes very slowly ... i just need to fix this problem and then, get my intercooler for finally, begin the turbo instalation. =)

shabby asked / questioned your 55 trim ? did you figure that out ?... these guys here are pretty swoof.... ...great !! at providing answers and steering you to a link....
. i think if you return an answer for shabby - ??? he could reply better than me....... (that might come back to haunt you - ignoring his question ).. ..and effect more than you know !!..... if he said ??? .never heard of that size - make sure you know what you have ..

. a light flashes for ME !!!! when these guys say something !! if it is too big but you gave the WRONG number - ?? how can they answer your question ?

my advice is !!- answer the inducer /exducer question !!!..........you might see the TIP of the iceberg...... this is much more complicated a task than you think - theres a whole lot to it you don't SEE YET !! trust me ....

i looked at the link but didn't go outside and measure anything - ( mine is already "in" ) so theres no point now ..lol.. ( besides he didn't question trim 50 - he questioned YOURS )......hahaha if that lil bit of math scares you -- -- wait till you get to tuning ............

i wondered TOO if a different choice would have been better ?.........

other than me having 50 trim - i think we are using close to the SAME exact turbo ?.....no problem here.... i wish it spooled sooner than 3K ..lol.... but i ain't complaining..

find out what trim you REALLY have.........

....aj's fancier turbo fried in less than a month......i'm not sure if he ever got a answer or picked something different for the replacement..... ??

i'm justa noob - but theres a wealth of knowledge here !!

....i HAD to swap out the 2.5 for 3 inch tubes........ i am sure you NEED 3 inch tubes....NOT 2.5 !!!!!!!!... (((((.ask about that !!! )))))______ before you have to change them like i did........and certainly BEFORE YOU ORDER your i/c !!
i have 3 inch tubes FRONT to BACK......... i 'd hate for you to have to do the i/c and all your tubes TWICE.....or suffer issues with the wrong tubes LIKE ME
2.5 didn't work !! been there ! NO JOY !

you din't say anything about injectors ! ????? just curious

i didn't need the fmu 12:1 ......so far fuel pump is doing it's job........you might ask the stage 3 owners about fuel - sounds like you have bigger goals than me ........mostly just keep reading .........you might wanna check out a TUNING forum too.......make sure you know what you getting into.......cuz once you start its on like king kong - be ready to get up and monkey down !
.

wishing you moocho much a latte LUCK !
