Hey guys, just starting on some research.. if I were to swap a V8 into the skystice, what affect would it have on the way the car handles?? I know with the 4cyl,(the way GM engineered the car to be) the handling is superior and like a dream, just wondering what affects or tolls the handling takes from having a much heavier front end?? more uner/oversteer?? power to weight ratio/?

wont be just a swap you will need to cut the frame from what i here. Springs new rear end and drive shaft and axles. I would think keeping it cool will be hard as well. Check what mallut is doing seems quite alot of work. I wonder if even malluts can handle AZ summer in trafic with the ac on? It gets a 120 here in the summer were im at and i know my Z has trouble when i put the ac on, and it has a giant Be-Cool al radiator with aux fans.
I would use an all aluminum block to keep the weight down. For the money you could build a 400hp 4l and keep the car almost stock. I was watching a old Bonavill salts flats speed tv and they had an ecotech with 800hp going well over 200mph in a saturn a world record at the time. so these motor cab pump out alot of hp.

yamatd3 did his himself. Mallet does V8 conversions also. I don't think they have figured out the cruise control.
There is no frame cutting involved, the stock springs are just fine, the stock rear end and half shafts (axles) are fine as well. The driveshaft does need to replaced. Heat hasn't been a problem for me, I've been in standing traffic at 90+ so far without an issue.
Also, modding the ecotec to produce 400+hp and 400+lb/ft would cost a significant amount and would not be as reliable as a stock LS V8. The weight gain is relatively minimal as well.

My V8 swap handles great!! I just got back from the Deals Gap meet and you can ask anyone in the hot shoe group how my car performed. If someone tells you the swap ruins the cars handling, they have never driven a converted car.
i would love to check your swap out sometime!! would you wanna meet up for lunch sometime or somthing?? im right here in daytona the next 8 weeks
Yeah no problem. My car is at JPM in Atlanta right now. If you meet me in Orlando on my way back, that would be great. It's either going to be the 18th or the 19th.

Sure. As it gets closer, I'll post when I'll be passing through. We need to pick something close to the turnpike and meet up for a late afternoon lunch. I don't have my plane ticket yet, so it might move to sat the 19th. When I know more, I'll post up.
I'll be heading through Orlando late fir evening, probably around 8:00-9. If anyone wants to meet, PM me.
PM sent
