Well, unless a miracle occurs, it will take months for the new channel to be corrected. Odds are they'll end up with another dam type structure to span the 300 feet.

I reckon we won't have to worry about anyone falling into the lake this year!

I made my reservations yesterday. Don't know if I had a "lakeview" room or not, but it really doesn't matter now, huh?

As long a the fire pit works, who needs a lake???

I'm sending my registration off to Ann tomorrow too.

Wow...

JSOnline Photographer Gallery

Link above for some pics from JSOnline in Milwaukee.

A co-worker of mine has an Aunt and Uncle who live on the lake and sadly, their house was one that was split in half. Follow the pics on the link and you will see a number os shots of one house tipped over (left side) and another split (right side). Her Aunt and Uncle was the house on the right. They lost roughly 1/2 of their stuff since their living room and bedroom were on the lake side.

See pic 12, pic 23 (right), and pic 29 (right) on the link (note: numbers may change if more are added by the paper).

CNN has video of their house in the process of splitting apart. It would make me SICK to watch that if it were mine.

Un..bull...friekin...leave...able...!!!

and the bad thing about all of it is their homeowners ins will not cover it because it was caused by a flood and they could not get flood ins because they were not in a flood plane area (a catch 22).

they are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Uh....regarding Cty A near the resort....GONE. Not just damaged. G O N E. Local reports say about 300 feet washed away when the dam opened up. A priority for the county is getting the road rebuilt (duh). I've not heard anything regarding rebuilding the Lake Delton dam. Tommy Bartlett's Ski Sky and Stage show at the end of the (former) lake will be closed for this week while they re-design the show. Supposed to re-open this weekend with additional stage elements, ski element gone for now.

the dam did not give way it is still intact. they even put sandbags on top of the dam to keep the dam from giving way.

You are correct in that the dam did not fail. Quoting an on-line article from Channel3000.com:

"Officials with the state's Department of Natural Resources said that the lake drained into the Wisconsin River after a highway embankment failed and water poured out of the lake, essentially emptying it.

Officials said that the rushing water wasn't caused by the dam's failure, but rather the area is low-lying and has been inundated by recent rains."

Apologies for any misinformation. Tragically, several homes damaged or totally destroyed, CTH A gone for several hundred feet, and many area businesses' short-term futures unknown.

OK, so anyone have any info on the Resort??? I'd rather not call up there right now given the circumstances unless I know everything is ok with them.

Both the 800 number and their local numbers are still appearing busy, probably still out!
