went up to the resort sunday, for something to do because we can not even get out on our boat. we talked with sue at the resort and she was saying that they have to have the water back in before it gets cold out enough to freeze because alot of the sewer lines go under the lake and they are afraid if the water is not back and it freezes they could have a big problem if the sewer lines freeze and crack or brake.
took some pic but can't upload them to here. i might post them on the sky side or if some one that can post attachments wants to e-mail me i will e-mail them to you and you can upload for me

Saw this little item in the Chicago Trib, article: Fast takes on the week's five most viewed Tribune stories on the paper's Web site. Find them quickly at chicagotribune .com/most.

1. Lake bursts bank and disappears: 'It was … full of life, now it's gone' (June 10). People are saddened as popular Wisconsin Dells vacation spot Lake Delton empties after heavy rains. On the positive side, the Jet Skis won't be nearly so annoying.

5. How a lake went down the drain (June 10). The emptying of Wisconsin's Lake Delton is attributed to a softening of the banks and the sheer force of water. And maybe to the cumulative impact of all those Tommy Bartlett Show water-ski jump landings over the years—or is that not scientific?

Found this one you tube this morning

Thanks for posting those Dave....WOW! When I read that the lake was only about 8 feet deep I was amazed...now you can see it

Well hopefully there will be a lake come September but we are booked and that's the way it is gonna stay...
A lack of a lake never stopped kappa owners from getting together now, would it?

Bwahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I forgot about that one!!

Moldy oldies

I will be arranging a fairly impromptu run/get together in the Dells/Barneveld area in a week or 2, or three, maybe even sometime over the July 4th weekend. Need to touch base with the visiting Sol person to see how the schedule looks once they've arrived.

It has been a crapy year for getting together with my Sol buddies.

Seems like we are booked up every weekend till August.

Hopefully we'll get out soon.

I think it was when we were discussing the Door County run.

You do look to be having a good time though.

The Latest on Sunset Bay

It's time to get those reservations made if you are considering joining us in the Dells this fall!

Dells feels the loss
Cancellations common since Lake Delton drained; owners say much is still open
By MEG JONES
mjones@journalsentinel.com
Posted: June 17, 2008

Lake Delton - The beach at Baker's Sunset Bay Resort is bigger than it used to be, Lake Delton Water Sports has plenty of boats to rent and tourists are flocking here to see the new attraction.

That’s the good news.

The downside is that much of Sunset Bay’s beach used to lie underneath Lake Delton, which, until last week Monday, was filled with pontoons, fishing boats and wave runners rented by Lake Delton Water Sports.

Now, judging by the gawkers lining the bridge through town, a dried-up Lake Delton is getting its picture taken much more often than when it looked like pretty much every lake in Wisconsin.

While some tourism business was flushed away along with the lake when a breach opened last week, Wisconsin Dells officials want visitors to know the place is still open for business.

“It’s tough. It is. We’ve lost a lot of reservations even though we didn’t sustain any damage,” said Dawn Baker, general manager of Baker’s Sunset Bay Resort, which her family has owned for 28 years.

At this time of year, the week after schools in Chicago and the Twin Cities let out for the summer, about 95% of Sunset Bay’s 74 rooms and cabins are normally rented. But only 20% are filled now, said Baker, because so many people canceled their reservations after seeing water gush out of Lake Delton on the television news.

“They think the Dells are closed. We’re not. We try to assure them on the phone, but they’ve made up their minds,” said Baker, pointing out that her resort offers four pools and a sauna along with the new big beach.
