You ain't just a whistlin' dixie there, I think this coming weekend I need to actually drive Kenny and head in that general direction. Mapping excursion for the run.
Too bad they won't let us use the lake for Blind Auto-X
According to today's news, they've started work to fix the dam, and they expect to start refilling the lake in November.
Now I'm confused . . . the dam didn't fail . . . it's this big hole in hte side of the lake where 5 homes used to be . . . you know, where there is a new river ( OK, creek ) emptying into the Wisconsin River? Why are they working on the dam?
Is there any chance there is federal money involved with this?
Location: New Diff, so no leaks; Brake clunk gone, nothing but the rumble left

I think the news people just don't know what to call a big hole in the side of a lake. It's amazing I was reading on the MN Star? site an article posted yesterday, and the 'feedback' being posted just blows my mind.

Crews start Lake Delton repairs
Floodwaters that chewed through Lake Delton's shoreline next to a dam last month took all the lake's water, five homes and the lake's tourism economy downstream.
Crews and engineers will start repairs to the lake's dam today designed to prevent a repeat of the natural disaster, businessman and village Trustee Tom Diehl said.
Workers also are gearing up for repairs to Highway A, and the Village Board is working to get back into the National Flood Insurance Program.
"Seeing work start is a real emotional boost as they can see progress being made," Diehl said this morning. "I always say you can crawl before you walk and walk before you can run. We're at the walking stage right now."
Lake Delton village trustees voted last week to spend $1.5 million on improvements to the dam. The approaches to the dam's gates and a higher emergency release will be reshaped like funnels so they can handle more water. Crews also plan to build new emergency spillways to the left and the right of the dam.
The improvements will make the dam capable of holding more than twice the amount of water as before, Diehl said.
While the work is being done, water from Dell Creek is running through the breach into the Wisconsin River. Crews should be able to divert water back through the dam opening in about four weeks and should be able to start filling the lake in November.
Village trustees were told last week that the federal government has offered compensation for the five houses that were destroyed by the breach.
Maybe we oughta add a walking day trip on Friday to tour the Lake Bottom. A treasure hunt, as it were!
Built 12/19, ready to be inspected and shipped. Said about 2-3 more weeks. Delivered to dealer on 1/13 I signed on 1/20 and the snow storm started when we got there. Picked it up 1/23. WOW!!
